Who's getting your vote to be on the next set of banknotes? We're cheering for the White-tailed Eagle - often seen in here in the Arun Valley after their reintroduction on the Isle of Wight, led by The Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation and Forestry England, in 2019. WWT is now leading a partnership effort to return these iconic birds back to Southeast Wales and the Severn Estuary. Read more on it here: https://www.wwt.org.uk/our-work/projects/returning-white-tailed-eagles-to-south-east-wales-and-the-severn-estuary

Our Dalmatian pelican flock is settling in together nicely after three new pelicans were added in late March. Now seven strong, they look impressive together (if slightly prehistoric). Don’t miss them at Pelican Cove – at 2 pm each day our Keepers give a short talk while they feed the ‘pellies’ some fish. The keepers are happy to chat and answer any questions. Thanks for the recent photo visitor Trevor Whittle

Our Reserve Team briefly hold four wild barn owlets just after getting their leg rings from licensed ringer Stuart Card on Friday morning. They were then walked up the ladder and returned to their owl box. We estimate the youngsters are 35-44 days old. The team have named them after the letters on the leg rings, choosing ‘Bread’ as the naming theme. Meet Cupcake, Loaf, Naan and Panini.

Wild orchid season continues… and they just keep coming! 🌸
Look out for common spotted orchids on the Boat Safari route islands and in the Meadow Maze. Nature is putting on quite a show right now for orchid fans.

Thanks to our Reserve team for the lovely pics.

🐸 It’s toadlet emergence day! 🐸
That perfect mix of mild weather and spring showers has triggered something special… our baby toads are on the move!
After weeks of watching tadpoles transform in the front ponds, they’re now tiny, fully formed toadlets beginning their journey onto land 💚
If you’re visiting today, please take care:
👣 Watch your step — they’re tiny and blend into the pavement
🚶 Path from the car park to the visitor centre is a busy crossing point
Our reserve team and volunteers have been out helping move them to safety — thank you!
Let’s give these little ones the best start 🐸✨
