We recovered a moped stolen during a robbery before arresting a suspect soon afterwards.

We originally attended the West Bridgford area after hearing a woman had just been robbed.

The victim was standing outside a shop in Boundary Road when she was suddenly punched and thrown to the floor.

She was left with facial injuries as a result, while her moped was taken and driven away too, around 3.50pm on Sunday (14 June).

A lengthy pursuit then took place through Mapperley Park and Daybrook, after the stolen moped was spotted by the Armed Policing team.

During that time, the bike failed to stop for our officers and was seen to be driven in an erratic fashion, before they eventually lost sight of it.

The moped was found abandoned in the Arnold area soon afterwards though, before our fi****ms officers also spotted and detained a suspect in West Street.

We duly arrested the 19-year-old man on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Detective Inspector James Oakton said: "This was an incredibly distressing experience for the victim, who was left shaken up by what happened.

"As this incident showed, robbery is a really nasty offence that can cause considerable harm, whether that's from a physical, emotional or financial standpoint.

"Thankfully, on this occasion, we were able to recover and return the victim's stolen property, while making an arrest in the process.

"That was thanks to some great police work from our Operational Support officers, who managed to track the moped down, having already been involved in a lengthy pursuit beforehand."

Families, farmers, and members of Nottinghamshire’s countryside communities are invited to the fifth annual rural showcase.

The event aims to promote all the work being done to tackle rural and wildlife crime and demonstrate the effectiveness of partnership working.

Visitors of all ages can get a first-hand look at the equipment used to keep communities safe from the drone and off-road bikes team.

The showcase will be held at Rufford Abbey Country Park, near Newark, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 27 June.

Officers from our heritage crime team will be on hand, and there's the opportunity to meet one of the force's police dogs.

Visitors will also get the chance to chat with the Criminal Scene Investigation (CSI) department to get an insight into how they investigate wildlife crime.

This year the event will feature even more partner organisations, including the RSPCA, Environment Agency, Via's Rights of Way team, and the British Horse Society.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service will be in attendance with one of their fire engines for guests to climb aboard.

Attendees are encouraged to chat with Bransby Horses about equine welfare, as well as our wildlife crime officers to discuss all the work they do to protect local wildlife.

The park’s café and facilities will be available during the showcase in the scenic surroundings of the park. All day parking will cost £7.

Rural and Wildlife Crime Partnerships Manager Juliet Marshall said: “This showcase is all about us showing the hard work being done by the force alongside our partners to protect our rural communities.

“It also gives the public the perfect opportunity to interact with officers and discuss issues that matter to them.

“We have a lot of fun activities planned and ways for everyone to get involved to show you how we’re listening and tackling the crime that matters to you.”

A drug dealer has been jailed after stabbing a man during a fight about a debt.

We were called to Cornwall Road, Daybrook, Nottingham, around 1.45am on 3 April 2025 following reports of a street altercation.

It was discovered one man, aged in his 20s, had been stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to hospital and required emergency surgery after suffering a collapsed lung.

We began an investigation and Marshall Williams-Handley was identified as the attacker.

During arrest attempts the following day, our officers seized clothing he had worn during the fight when they searched a property in Daybrook.

They also found wraps of Class A drugs and a dealer list in a bag at the address.

Williams-Handley, aged 21, of Taylor Way, Nottingham, was later arrested and charged.

He denied the attack but was found guilty of wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place following a trial in December last year.

He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply he**in and crack co***ne and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (11 June) Williams-Handley was handed an extended jail sentence of ten and a half years.

Detective Constable Michaela Williams said: “The men involved were known to each other and they had a fall out about drugs.

“The incident escalated when Williams-Handley produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.

“He required emergency surgery and we know his injuries, as well as the psychological scars of what happened, continue to impact his life.

“Williams-Handley was dealing drugs on the street and, due to his lifestyle, carried a weapon which he was clearly prepared to use.

“As we so often see, the presence of a knife escalated the incident into something far more serious for all involved.

“The offender is fortunate his victim was not even more seriously hurt.

“We know a number of people living in the area witnessed the incident and there was wider concern in the community.

“I hope our robust investigation and the outcome in court provides some comfort and demonstrates how seriously we treat violent incidents like this.”

We have issued an image of a person we want to identify and speak to after a woman was racially abused on a bus.

The victim had been on a bus service from Nottingham city centre to Calverton when the incident happened on 14 May.

We would like to trace the pictured woman as we believe she can assist us with our inquiries.

Police Staff Investigator Leanne Weaving said: “As a force, we take a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime in all its forms, including racism, and will always look to put offenders before the courts.

“As part of our inquiries I would encourage anyone who recognises the woman pictured to please come forward, as we would like to speak to her in relation to this incident.”

Anyone who recognises the woman is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting 26*289585, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A project aimed at improving the response to spiking reports by increasing victims' accessibility to testing kits has been extended to cover the World Cup football tournament.

We’re one of three forces taking part in a pilot project, named Project Alliance, which is being led by the National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls and Public Protection (NCVPP).

We already know spiking is underreported to us, but we still want victims to come forward for testing, even if they don’t want a criminal justice outcome.

As part of this initiative, spiking victims can now access multi-drug urine testing kits which are available from specific local hospitals and health centres, not just from the police, giving them more options for support.

The test will detect and identify known substances people may have been spiked with.

There is also information provided on how to use these testing kits which will be available during the pilot which was initially launched in March and has since been extended until 31 July 2026.

So far, we've received 42 reports of spiking since the pilot project was launched.

DCI Chris Berryman, our spiking lead, said: “The pilot has gone well from a police perspective. We want to make testing more accessible and remove some of the stigma of reporting crime.

"We want victims to feel they are able to report incidents to us as well as making them more aware of spiking and the support available to them.

“If you believe you have been spiked, please come forward and report it to us.

"The sooner it is reported, the better the chance we have of identifying offenders and stopping them from harming others.

“You will be listened to and taken seriously. We’re here to support you and help you get the answers you need.”

Potential spiking victims can report an incident or find out more information by calling us on 101 or reporting online here: https://orlo.uk/nXL1K

Three people have been charged after we were in the right place at the right time to foil a suspected high-value shop theft.

Security staff at a supermarket in Front Street, Arnold, spotted a group filling a plastic bin with hundreds of pounds worth of goods on Saturday (30 May) around 6pm.

We were contacted using an emergency dialling system and were able to detain the group within the store.

Officers from the Gedling Central neighbourhood policing team then found a car nearby containing further suspected stolen items.

Additional shop thefts had been reported at two other local stores in which clothing, confectionery and other food products had been taken.

Gianni Ionita, 18, Daianna Ionita, 20, and Bernandi Matei, 32, all of Chadwick Road, Nottingham, have each been charged with three counts of shop theft.

They are due to appear before magistrates in Nottingham on 19 June 2026.

Inspector Steven King, our Area Commander, said: "Our neighbourhood officers are in regular contact with shop security teams and this joined up approach was in evidence with these arrests and charges.

"Shop theft can have a serious impact on local businesses so disrupting this criminality is an important part of our role."
