✨Weekly Update✨

Delighted to see council grant planning approval for our city centre park! Construction will start year & should be completed in 2028 🌳🛝🌊

Joined Liz Kimmins MLA & Cllr. Valerie Harte & met with Newry Tennis Club to progress a number of initiatives. They have had a brilliant summer & are preparing to celebrate a big anniversary this year 🎾

Met Hospitality Ulster in Westminster with Cathal Mallaghan MP. Our hospitality sector deserves a level playing field across the island. The British govt must reduce VAT on hospitality - this would be a game changer ☕️🥪🍺🛏️

Engaged with Omar Barghotti, leader of the international Boycott Divestment & Sanctions ( ) campaign. Boycott is a key pillar in the fight against Israeli occupation, apartheid & genocide 🇵🇸

Fantastic to welcome Usel. to where they launched their Skills for Life and Work Programme. This will create new opportunities for young people to develop skills, build confidence & explore pathways into employment. I look forward to working with them as the programme grows! 👷🏻‍♂️

Met Iúr Cinn Fleadh with Liz to assess the success of this year’s events & plan for next year. The group has very exciting plans & we look forward to supporting them! 🎻🎶

Joined 100s of Republican activists in Belfast to plan for the months ahead. There was huge support for the people of Garvaghy Road, and determination that attempts by unionist leaders to turn back the clock will not succeed. Sinn Féin stands fully with the people of Garvaghy Road.

Travelled to to represent Sinn Féin at Volksstimmefest. Had constructive meetings with our friends in KPÖ, Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung & European Left on neutrality, EU politics, housing & the cost of living crisis 🤝

Spoke on Irish neutrality, the need to invest in our Defence Forces & protect our independent foreign & defence policy with comrades from across Europe, inc. the PTB & Kommunistische Partei Österreichs 💪

Dealt with a number of constituency cases this week, inc. housing, road improvements & community safety.

Come along and honour Kieran’s enduring legacy.

Fifty years on, we proudly remember and honour Kieran Nugent, the First Blanket Man. In defiance of British criminalisation, his courage and sacrifice inspired generations and paved the path we walk today.

🇵🇸 Boycott is a key pillar in the fight against Israeli occupation, apartheid & genocide 🇵🇸

Great to meet with BDS Movement leader Omar Barghouti in Westminster today.

Boycott, divestment & sanctions (BDS) are fundamental to ending Israel’s unparalleled violations of human rights & international law.

To end Israel’s systems of oppression, the international community must intensify coordinated global solidarity efforts.

Collective international solidarity requires material action, not just rhetoric.

We will continue to support & the people of Palestine until they are at peace and free.

✨ Weekly Update ✨

Met with senior Southern Health Trust officials to discuss concerning spending cuts. It’s vital that these cuts do not impact patients or frontline services.

Attended the requiem mass for the great Eithne Vallely in Armagh. It was a beautiful service in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, full of the cultural flourishes that defined her life. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Joined the celebrations to mark Comóradh an Chéid, the 100th anniversary, of Comhaltas Uladh in Gaeláras Mhic Ardghail. The organisation, now part of Conradh na Gaeilge, has been integral in preserving & promoting the Irish language & culture across Ulster (& the Wee County) throughout a turbulent century 🗣️

Visited ‘Gaels From Newry’ exhibition as part of Iúr Cinn Fleadh with Cllr. Valerie Harte. A fantastic collection of photos, particularly the ones of local clubs. Plenty of familiar faces, including da in his St. John Bosco GAC Newry days 🔵🟡🏐

Met with senior Translink officials, including new CEO Gerard Carlin, to discuss improved bus and rail services in Newry & Armagh, with Cllr Aidan Mathers & Councillor Declan Murphy. We are committed to improving local public transport. It’s great to see significant growth in the use of both bus & rail services, with more improvements to come 🚎🚃

Spoke at Ipsc Newry’s weekly demonstration in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Our solidarity is as vital now as ever - the Israeli state is hell bent on opposing any attempt to build a durable peace process in the region 🇵🇸

Chaired a wreath laying ceremony in memory of Óglach Patrick ‘Patsy’ McKeown on the 52th anniversary of his passing. Fuair sé bás ar son saoirse na hÉireann 🇮🇪

Joined Drumalane residents at the unveiling of a plaque in memory of those from the park who have passed away. A poignant initiative & a welcome addition to the wee community garden. Maith sibh to the Men’s Shed 👏

Took part in the ‘Walk For Safer Futures’ with Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins MLA & Cllr. Geraldine Kearns. The event was organised by The Road Ahead NI to remember all those lost & affected by tragedies on our roads & was a great success.

Called up to Meigh Community Association’s Fun Day. A great event for local residents, in spite of the drizzle. Maith sibh to the Community Association, Sinéad McParland, the Men’s Hub, musicians & entertainers 🎶🛝🏐

Dealt with a number of constituency cases this week, inc. work on housing, passports, community safety & sports development.
