The First Minister and deputy First Minister hold one joint office, equally.

Michelle Oโ€™Neill has no authority to represent Northern Ireland or the Executive in Cardiff without the agreement of the deputy First Minister and the Executive.

Letโ€™s be clear: this is not three governments agreeing independence. It is three nationalist party leaders effectively signing one anotherโ€™s manifestos.

โ“ I have therefore submitted an urgent Assembly Question demanding full transparency on whether any Executive Office resources were used, including travel, accommodation, official transport, staffing, Private Office support or departmental briefing.

๐Ÿ’ท If Michelle Oโ€™Neill attended on Sinn Fรฉin business, Sinn Fรฉin should pay the bill.

The Northern Ireland taxpayer should not be funding a separatist publicity stunt.

Absolutely delighted to see our good friend Kyle Savage selected as the Ulster Unionist Party candidate for Ulster Unionist Party - Upper Bann in next Mayโ€™s Assembly election.

Kyle is a hardworking councillor, proud farmer and dedicated community representative who understands the issues facing both our towns and rural communities. I have no doubt that he will make an outstanding MLA and be a strong, common-sense voice for the people of Upper Bann.

Congratulations, Kyle โ€” wishing you every success in the campaign ahead. Upper Bann is in safe hands! ๐Ÿ’™

The Ulster Unionist Party has selected Councillor Kyle Savage as its candidate for Upper Bann in next May's Assembly election. A Donaghcloney farmer and twice Deputy Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Cllr Savage has represented the Lagan River DEA on the council since 2019.

Ulster Unionist Party Leader Jon Burrows MLA said:

โ€œI am delighted that Councillor Kyle Savage has been selected as our Ulster Unionist Party candidate for Upper Bann.

โ€œKyle has represented the Lagan River DEA on Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council since 2019, and in that time he has built a reputation as a hard working representative who knows this area and delivers for the people in it. He was selected by our members in Upper Bann because they know him, trust him and want him to be their voice at Stormont.

โ€œThis is a constituency that punches above its weight, and it deserves a representative who is part of a team working together to make Northern Ireland stronger and more successful. Kyle will be that representative, and he will have the full backing of the party behind him.

โ€œWe are building a confident, forward looking unionism that strengthens the Union by making Northern Ireland the most successful place it can be. Kyle Savage will be a key part of that, and I have no doubt he will be an outstanding MLA for Upper Bann.โ€

Cllr Savage, a Donaghcloney farmer and twice Deputy Lord Mayor, said:

โ€œUpper Bann needs a bit of common sense. Not more slogans - someone who is out on the ground, honest about what has not worked, and determined to win this seat for people here.

โ€œI have served as a councillor since 2019. Long before that I put my own time into helping community groups across Upper Bann secure funding that developed local people, places and spaces. I know what this area can do when it is treated fairly.

โ€œWe have strong towns in Portadown, Lurgan and Banbridge, thriving rural communities, and a workforce that punches above its weight in agri-food, manufacturing and business. What they ask for is not complicated: apprenticeships that lead to real jobs at home, investment our towns and villages have earned, and services that work. Leaving Upper Bann should be a choice, not the only option.

โ€œFairness also means backing the people who keep this place going - families, farmers, small businesses - instead of leaving them to carry the risk while decisions are made elsewhere.

โ€œMaking Northern Ireland work is the central task of unionism. A Union that delivers security, opportunity and a fair chance for the next generation will always be stronger than a Union that is only defended in speeches.

โ€œMy job now is to meet people in every part of Upper Bann, hear what matters to them, and earn their vote.โ€

Leadership from Jon Burrows MLA ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Following the ill-advised comments Mr Trump made about a United Ireland, perhaps he needs to be shown this image of what a United Kingdom can offer, with all four nations united together.

This was the Banbridge VE Day Parade last year, which commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day and celebrated the victory achieved by Allied forces from the United Kingdom, United States and Commonwealth, who stood together against the Axis powers.

Northern Irelandโ€™s place is far more secure within the United Kingdom than it would be within the Republic of Ireland.

The UUP will continue to deliver positive Unionism to the people of this fantastic country in a positive, proactive and professional manner. We will continue to support our local communities and businesses while promoting a positive message for future generations.
