On a day like today is there any finer place on earth than the North Hampshire downs?

Last week the Science Innovation and Technology Committee (of which I am a member) questioned the incoming chair of Ofcom on his plans and perceptions. Here is my major concern laid out - did you know you can watch House committee meetings live and online at Parliamentlive.tv ? So much work goes on in committee it’s worth checking it out.

What a weekend! Monday saw a blistering afternoon at the in the splendid grounds of with its beautiful . Such a wonderful location for a very traditional fete. The brass band were on great form (can’t beat a bit of Frozen) and the Rock Choir sang their socks off. General sweaty jollity was the vibe. Well done everyone!

So energising to drop in for a catchup with a great Andover family company. BP Rolls will be well known to anyone who frequents the West Portway estate, now heading into its 50th year in business. Started in Brian’s garage and grown by his son David, they are both energetic and successful entrepreneurs- and a great source of on the ground experience for me to take back to Westminster. We need more like them!

A lovely event last week, opening the Little Pioneers nursery at St Thomas’ Infants school in Woolton Hill. The result of a big team effort by the Head, staff, Chair of Governors, Parish Council, local Councillors and .thacker.whitchurchandclere , the nursery will provide 22 much needed preschool places to local families, in a wonderful spacious environment. I lent my support after a conversation with Chris McGowan (chair) at the and it was a huge pleasure to see the team overcome the bureaucratic hurdles put in their way. Congratulations to everyone involved.
