Barrows, Biplanes & Bombers The history of the airfield that sat right next to the iconic stonehenge mounment from 1917-1921, tr

A mere blink in the timeline of the ancient monument, but perhaps the most recent chapter in a long history of the site that we believe should not be overlooked. Wings Over Stonehenge offers guided walks, illustrated talks and other events on the fascinating history of the airfields surrounding Stonehenge.

A post on a Fleet Air Arm history page I run, has attracted some interest recently in wartime activity around Stonehenge.... Nothing terribly new in what's being said... but I hadn't seen this photo before! (I must say, I think the photographers focal length makes the hangars look darn site closer than they actually were!)

Next week I will be delivering an on-line talk for the Great War Aviation Society, part of a series of Zoom talks the society is oprganising this summer.

I will be looking at the story of Lark Hill and the people who operated there. Access is free to GWAS members... and, the good news is, also to people who have registered for the society's 'Wind in the Wires' email newsletter.
..once you've done that (and the newsletter's free of charge) you just need to register to get the talk access code and accept terms and conditions.
