Hauxley Village

Hauxley Village Hauxley Village The delightful hamlets of High and Low Hauxley are situated about a mile south of Amble, Northumberland.

High Hauxley boasts a Grade-2 listed Georgian Hall, originally an adapted farmhouse, and which is described by Nikolaus Pevsner as being architecturally significant. The village of Low Hauxley developed around a charming square and was originally created to house the local fishing community.

🌹 🌺 Flowering Hauxley 🌺 🌹

As summer arrives, the planters and wildflower areas around Hauxley are beginning to burst into life. At this time of year, it’s wonderful to sit back and enjoy the results of all the hard work put in by our volunteers.

The buzz of bees, the swooping swallows, and the butterflies dancing among the dune meadows are constant reminders of just how special our villages are.

Unfortunately, the wildflower meadow seeded by volunteers at the Kirkwell footpath access has recently been strimmed and possibly sprayed. We know this was not carried out by the council’s grounds maintenance team, so it remains a mystery and is a great disappointment. We hope the newly planted hedge and bulbs have not been affected, and we will reseed the area in due course.

Our villages are full of colour and flowers, and we would like to thank everyone who helps care for and enhance our community. Your efforts make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.

🌷 Villages Grass Cutting Update 🌷

You may have noticed the village grass verges haven’t been cut this month. This is not due to ‘no mow May’ or the recent wildflower and bulb planting. We have been informed by Northumberland County Council that they have experienced some operational issues this season. Cutting of verges will resume shortly. If you want to keep parts of your lawn long for wildlife then why not cut some shapes or even support your national football team.
