JOB VACANCY: TEMPORARY TOWN RANGER VACANCY approximately 12 hours per week for 8 weeks, with a possible extension.

Actual Salary £13.90 per hour plus 12.07% per hour holiday pay.

Are you looking for a job that can make a real difference to the community? A job that offers an excellent work/life balance, keeps you active and engaged with the public. If the answer is yes, then the following opportunity could be for you.

At Alsager Town Council we are looking to cover our existing, highly popular Town Ranger service by appointing a temporary, part-time Town Ranger. The overall aim of the service is to ensure that the town of Alsager is a clean, safe and attractive place to live and visit, with well maintained streets and public spaces. Works will include the maintenance of public open spaces, horticultural features, highway verges, car parks, formal parks and street cleansing duties. You will also be working on Town Council buildings and land.

You will be primarily working alone, outdoors, using your considerable DIY and communication skills to keep our town clean and our community engaged and safe. A typical week would involve firstly looking into our communities requests, planning works with colleagues and undertaking the works on site. Finally providing feedback to customers and colleagues alike. You could be using the Town Ranger van, therefore a full driving license is essential.

As a Town Ranger, you will be representing the Council, out in the community. It is therefore incredibly important that you have a caring, understanding and professional attitude towards your work and how you interact with the public.

The successful candidate should have as a minimum, background/experience of carrying out minor maintenance work and DIY. Knowledge of Health and Safety at work would be a bonus.

For an informal discussion please contact Julie Mason, (Town Clerk) on 01270 876440 or for an application pack, please email: [email protected]

Closing date for receipt of applications is Sunday 21 June 2026.
