Training time again for the Alnwick and Seahouses crews, coming together to deal with a three vehicle road traffic collision and if that wasn't enough, a workshop fire was also thrown in just to complicate things!
Many thanks to the hardworking fire crew at RAF Boulmer for facilitating and helping out with this exercise on Monday evening.

This afternoon we visited the St Paul’s Primary School, where they have been learning all about the Great Fire of London.

The children built and talked about what houses were like in 1666 and had many questions about our Service.

🚜🌾 Harvesting in high fire risk conditions – Stay safe, stay prepared 🌾🔥

Hot, dry, and windy weather means wildfire risk is high – especially during harvesting.

Here’s how farmers can help reduce the risk of fire ignition and spread:

✅ Start harvesting from the downwind edge – any sparks head into already cut areas.
✅ Harvest headlands first – creates a firebreak and emergency access.
✅ Plough or disc behind the harvester – bare earth stops fire in its tracks.
✅ Keep fire suppression tools on site – water bowser, extinguishers, and comms.
✅ Inspect & clean machinery daily – remove dust and straw build-up.
✅ Work in teams – keep watch for smoke and rotate duties.
✅ Communicate with neighbours & responders – and know your exact location.

📞 If you spot smoke or fire: Call 999 immediately and ask for the Fire Service.
Use apps like what3words to give precise locations.

Let’s keep our fields, communities, and firefighters safe this harvest season. 🔥

🔥 It only takes a second…
A spark from a campfire or BBQ can destroy miles of countryside and dunes, harm wildlife, and put homes – and lives – in danger.

🥪 Pack a picnic instead of a BBQ
❌ Never light open fires in the wild
✅ Only light fires in designated areas at managed campsites

Let’s keep Northumberland safe and beautiful this summer.

Say hi to Sean 👋 He's one of our water safety experts💧

When it's hot outside, it's tempting to cool off in local rivers and lakes, but staying safe is crucial. Here are some important safety tips👇👇
🌊 Strong Currents: Even calm-looking rivers can have strong currents beneath the surface.
⚠️ Hidden Hazards: Rocks, debris, and sudden drop-offs can pose serious dangers.
🥶 Cold Shock: Despite the heat, river water can be cold enough to cause shock, cramps, or hypothermia.
❤️ Stay safe and cool in safer environments like supervised swimming pools or paddling pools.

Enjoy the sun responsibly! 🌊🚫🏊‍♂️
