The NCC was pleased to attend and represent our sector at the Tourism Alliance Policy Conference yesterday in London. The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to share insight and shape strategies to strengthen tourism across the UK.
Tourism Minister Stephanie Peacock delivered a keynote speech announcing a £300,000 VisitEngland domestic marketing campaign to promote North West seaside resorts, launching in February 2026. Targeting the crucial March-June shoulder season, the campaign – developed with Marketing Lancashire, Liverpool City Region, and Cumbria Tourism aims to boost visits and overnight stays, supporting jobs and driving economic growth in coastal communities. Its reach will be doubled through match funding from an online travel agent.
Highlighting tourism as a ‘national treasure’ to the UK economy, contributing £58.2 billion and supporting 1.2 million jobs, Minister Peacock also acknowledged the sector’s challenges, including seasonality, rising costs, and increasing global competition. Efforts to address workforce skills shortages, such as the Hospitality Skills Passport, were also emphasised, alongside a new light-touch short-term lets registration scheme launching in 2026 to help raise safety standards and support fair competition.
We look forward to continuing to work with the Tourism Alliance and the wider tourism trade community to champion the vital contribution that leisure vehicle and holiday park businesses play in driving economic growth, and to advocate for government policies that effectively support and benefit tourism enterprises.
