Congratulations all round for the Mens UKAF Hockey team πππππ
The UKAF Menβs Hockey Team competed at the weekend in Englandβs longest running hockey competition, the County Championships, facing nine strong sides.
After pool victories over Shropshire and Yorkshire, and a narrow defeat to the Isle of Man, the team showed real resilience securing a dramatic last touch goal to draw with Nottinghamshire and finish second in their pool.
A hard fought semi final against the top team from the opposite pool, Warwickshire, saw UKAF edge a tense contest 3β2 to reach the final (potentially for the first time in memory).
The final against Lincolnshire was a cagey, attritional affair, ending 2β2 and going to penalty strokes. UKAF held their nerve, converting all five penalties, before Lincolnshireβs final effort was fired wide sealing a memorable championship victory.
An outstanding performance and a fantastic achievement for the team.
The squad was as per the list in the post below with the addition of Andrew Siemann (RAF) as coach, DAN CATTERMOLE (Army) as Manager and Harry Johnstone (Army) as Assistant Manager.
Fantastic result - well done everyone
