We are fully supportive of Alex Baker MP standing up against those who seek to divide our community.
I will always work with anyone to deliver change for people in Aldershot and Farnborough. But I will not stand for racism, or for anyone seeking to divide our community. The remarks made by Ken Tranter, Reform’s newly elected councillor for Aldershot South, about “non-white persons taking over Municipal Gardens” are divisive and completely unacceptable.
That is why I have written directly to the leader of the Hampshire Reform group calling for Councillor Ken Tranter to be expelled from both their group and the Reform Party immediately.
Aldershot is a proud and diverse community. Attempts to divide people, or single people out because of the colour of their skin, have no place here. It is upsetting to see our town reported in national headlines over these kind of comments. We must not let this kind of politics define us. This is exactly the division and grievance I promised to stand against when I was elected.
