Think playing in a band is just sitting in a rehearsal room? Think again!

Last night we were rehearsing ahead of a busy diary, including Battle of Britain dinners, a sunset parade and flypast, before heading out to support the Albrighton Approbation Parade.

Just some of the reasons why we love what we do:

✈️ Experiences you don’t get in every band - how many musicians can say they've played Dambusters with an Avro Lancaster appearing overhead, right on cue!

We're always on the lookout for new players, especially keen to hear from oboe/percussion but all players welcome - the more the merrier!

Not played for a while- don't worry there's a few of us that have picked up an instrument for the first time in a while. (I hadn't played for 25yrs, but I haven't looked back since I joined the band 15mths ago!)

Not got an instrument - we have instruments that we can loan you during your time in the band.

Maybe you're a musician and now find yourself as an RAF trainee based at Cosford, or maybe you're due to be based here and wondering what to do with your time? We are mix of serving personnel, civil service and civilians.

We rehearse every Monday 1930-2200 (tea and coffee provided!) on site at RAF Cosford.

Congratulations to the personnel from across the Station who were recognised at the honours and awards ceremony at RAF Cosford on 3 September.

Personnel from across the Station came together on 2 September to hear from the Chief of the Air Staff and members of the RAF Executive Leadership Team.

The visit focused on current topics affecting the Royal Air Force and Defence, providing an opportunity for open engagement, shared understanding and valuable discussion between senior leaders and personnel at all levels.

Command of No.1 Radio School at RAF Cosford was handed over from Wing Commander Littlefield to Wing Commander Gray on 28 August 2026.

We wish Wing Commander Littlefield every success in her next tour and welcome Wing Commander Gray back to the Station.

RAF Cosford welcomed athletes from across the Service for the first RAF Functional Fitness Championship, hosted by the RAF School of Physical Training.

Throughout the day, participants took on five challenging events designed to test the full spectrum of functional fitness attributes essential to military performance.

Combining competition, camaraderie and resilience, the championship celebrated the RAF's commitment to developing fitter, healthier and more capable personnel while laying the foundations for the future of Functional Fitness as an RAF sport.

The annual Station Fit4Life day event took place at the RAF SofPT on Wed 29 Jul 26.

The event was organised by SofPT Cpls’ Connor Grant and Jason Kernohan who brought together elements from across the unit and external presenters to provide a focussed health and wellbeing day for all staff, trainees and families at Cosford.

Personnel were able to try out new activities such as kayaking, golf, fencing and Brazilian Ju Jitsu as well as seek health and wellness advice from experts.

As well as the opportunity to showcase the wide and varied activities available to all at Cosford, the event also raised funds for the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital-based Lingen Davies Cancer Fund charity through a series of fitness and sports challenges, prize raffles and a hugely popular cake sale organised by Mrs Steph Bell from the SofPT planning office.

Overall, an amazing total of £2169.43 was raised for the cancer charity from events on the day and challenges run throughout July 26.
