The next Saturday volunteer session is to be held this weekend on Saturday 18th April. No prior skills or experience are needed and jobs to suit all ability levels. The team meet at 9.30am by the nature reserve containers at the end of the Rectory Care home car park. We'd love you to join us.

We've had loads of enquiries from people wanting to come and join our merry band of volunteers that look after the nature reserve in Donington & Albrighton. We hold regular volunteer working days, usually on one Thursday and one Saturday each month. A couple of dates have now been finalised for February (detailed below)so if you fancy joining us and getting some fresh air and cake with like minded people then come and join us - we have activities that suit all abilities.

Thursday 5th February - meet at 9.30am at the end of the Rectory care home car park by the storage containers

Our amazing group of Saturday volunteers carried out some brilliant work yesterday in your local nature reserve.

- Coppicing hazel and creating stakes for the dry hedge in the meadow
- Managing some of the trees in the conservation area by coppicing
- Planning the works to be carried out on the boardwalk in the conservation area
- Planting saplings in nursery beds
- Pointing at things 🤣
- Coffee-drinking and cake-eating 🍰🧁

The next Saturday date tbc. If you fancy getting out in the fresh air, helping nature and just having some fun with like minded people then come and join us. The results of the Big Butterfly Count have shown it's been an average year for butterflies, and with many species in long-term decline, it's going to take more than a sunny spell to turn things around 🦋📉

However, there is a simple way you can take action to help butterflies recover.

Well the seasons have definitely changed but there is still so much to see in your local nature reserve. We have a fabulous group of volunteers who help maintain the reserve for nature, wildlife and visiting humans. If you fancy joining them we have a volunteer day usually on the first Thursday of each month and we also have a Saturday team with our next meet on Saturday 27th September. Meet at 9.30am by the containers at the end of the Rectory care home car park.
