πŸš–Speeding in Oswaldtwistle

Many residents have contacted me regarding ongoing speeding concerns on Harvey Street in Oswaldtwistle.

I am pleased that the police have been on Harvey Street today carrying out speed enforcement checks, and I hope to see further speeding operations across our town.

If you have concerns about speeding in your area, please report them to the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership using the link below πŸ‘‡

I will continue to campaign and work closely with the relevant authorities to help make our roads safer for local people.

Together, we can make a difference!

🏏 OSSY VS BAXENDEN! 🏏

Last night, Oswaldtwistle Immanuel Church Cricket Club took on Baxenden Community Cricket Club in an exciting T20 clash.

For one night only, Cllr David Heap and I found ourselves on opposite sides!

We agreed a Β£50 wager on the match, with the losing councillor donating Β£50 to a local charity or community cause chosen by the winner.

I'm delighted to say that Ossy Immanuel put in a fantastic performance and emerged victorious.

The local cause I have chosen to receive the Β£50 donation is the Tinker & Budget War Mural Project.

It was great to see two local grassroots clubs competing in such good spirit, bringing people together and showcasing the strength of our local community.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you for a brilliant evening of cricket.

**BELTHORN UPDATES & POLICE VISIT**

A productive meeting with the Belthorn Committee tonight over a beer and a burger πŸ”πŸ»

A big thank you to Blackburn and Darwen Police for joining us, sharing updates, and committing to monthly visits to listen to resident concerns. Future visits will be published to residents at a suitable evening time.

A few quick updates for fellow villagers:

β€’ Belthorn Recreation Ground – the grass continues to be cut (please keep messaging me if standards slip). I’ve requested replacement goalposts and I am working with the Committee on improving the paths.

β€’ War Memorial – continuing to chase to ensure repairs are included in this year’s programme ahead of November.

β€’ HBC will install a new bench facing the pond.

β€’ Police update – we’re fortunate to live in a safe village. The police encourage everyone to report concerns directly so they can build an accurate picture, allocate resources where needed, and respond effectively.

I’ll also be contacting HQ to get support setting up a neighbourhood watch scheme.

Stay in the Know – sign up for updates on local crime, road closures, fires, and more:

https://www.stayintheknow.co.uk/

β€’ Speeding - please continue reporting incidents. The more evidence we have, the stronger the case when pushing LCC to take action.

As ever, if there is anything you want to see in the village then give me a shout !

Thanks everyone πŸ‘
