The Power of Lived Experience in Supporting Quality Assurance outcomes.

Our Experts by Experience lead dedicated sessions with people using services and their families.

Why does this matter?

Open, Honest Dialogue: Peer-to-peer conversations create a safe space for feedback that standard audit interviews rarely capture.

Identifying Root Themes: Experts look beyond compliance to identify key themes that directly affect people’s quality of life.

Strengthening Community: Our reviews actively support the development of local social networks and peer advocacy for people and families.

When you put lived experience at the heart of quality assurance, you don't just find issues, you build sustainable solutions.

Safeguarding should be something people can understand, talk about and use in everyday life.

Our My Right to Be Safe training supports people to understand their rights, recognise when something is not right, know where to get help and feel confident speaking up.

These photos from a recent session show exactly what the training is about, practical, accessible learning built around the people taking part.

Because good safeguarding is not just about policies and procedures. It is about making sure people know their rights, their choices and who they can turn to for support.

If your organisation is looking for accessible safeguarding training, get in touch with Pathways Associates to find out more.

What does good quality support actually look like?

Quality assurance is about more than checking that the right processes are in place. The most important question is whether support is actually helping people to live the lives they want.

That is why the Casey Commission's **Big Conversation on Care** matters.

Learning Disability England is helping people with learning disabilities, families and others share their experiences, including:

• What makes social care support work?
• What gets in the way?
• What does life look like when support is good?

These are exactly the kinds of questions that should sit at the heart of quality.

The Casey Commission is looking at how we make social care work for everyone. This is an update on what we know about the commission’s work and ways to get involved. When Andy Burnham became the Prime Minister he said social care was important. He asked Baroness Casey to finish her work on th...

In 2019 we quite literally 'pinned our HOPE' on you Andy Burnham when together we launched the Greater Manchester Learning Disability Plan which we had coproduced with people from across Greater Manchester at our 'Bee Here Now!' events.

You continued to take an active interest and in 2024 you came along to the Greater Manchester Confirm and Challenge conference bringing all areas of GM together to share what they were doing to deliver the plan and also the barriers they were facing.

One of the barriers were Bus Passes! You listened and promised you would go away and do something about it and in 1st August 2025 people in Greater Manchester enjoyed what you have now made available across the country.

Keep going, we are still pinning our HOPES on you (and found some spare badges if you need them)

Safeguarding shouldn't be a policy that sits unread in a folder. It must be an active, living culture that protects people while upholding their rights and independence.

Safeguarding Support, we help organisations build safeguarding frameworks that are truly co-produced:

🛡️ Co-produced Policy & Procedure: Developing clear, accessible policy frameworks alongside people who use services and family carers.

🛡️ Co-designed Training: Co-delivering bespoke training with Experts by Experience so teams understand legal frameworks (MCA, DoLS, Human Rights) through a human-centred lens.

🛡️ Bespoke Quality Navigation: Supporting teams to navigate complex safeguarding actions and regulatory expectations safely and constructively.

"I feel more confident about speaking up and saying what I want and don’t want and reporting abuse because I know I have rights".

"On the course, we talked about Human rights. I have the right to be treated fairly and to be safe"

From our educational work on Mental Capacity Act (MCA) films to national C(E)TR panel resources, we ensure legal best practice and human rights are embedded across all levels of support.
