This biannual week of action ran from May 18th – 24th and gave members of the public the opportunity to dispose of unwanted knives at police counters across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.

These are some knives handed in to Aberystwyth.

Please remember that if you have concerns about anyone carrying a knife, you can report it to the police or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Additionally, if there are areas where you live or spend time that you don’t feel safe in, you can report this on a website called 'StreetSafe'. The information you provide is passed onto the relevant police force who can then assess your report and take necessary action.

⚠️ If you’re using a disposable BBQ, don’t use it on grassy areas and make sure it’s fully cool before you bin it
🏍️ Do not use illegal off-road bikes

👮 Aberystwyth NPPT 👮

Last week Michala from the Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Team attended at Coleg Ceredigion and spoke with one of the Independent Living Skills Pathways Class.

Michala spoke to the class to help raise awareness around online safety, and how to spot signs and avoid exploitation.

Cafodd Jack a Michala amser wych ddangos y car i'r plant, rhoi cyfle i nhw gwisgo hetiau a creu cerdyn gyda'i olion bysedd.

Thanks to Cylch Meithrin Aberystwth for having us yesterday!

Jack and Michala had a great time showing the police car to the children, giving them a chance to try on some hats and creating finger print cards.

🔵 Uned Plismona’r Ffyrdd – Roads Policing Unit 🔵

Officers were conducting patrols over the weekend in relation to , focusing on the main routes around Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. Whether you’re on two wheels or four, we all play a part in keeping our roads safe.

Officers conducted speed checks at locations where the community have expressed concerns regarding speeding vehicles and where serious collisions have occurred.

Several cars were stopped and reported for exceeding the speed limit along with construction and use such as low tyre tread depth, cracked windscreen and illegal numberplates.

👮 Aberystwyth Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Team 👮

This afternoon Michala and Helen from the NPPT team visited the Friday Club in Waunfawr, Aberystwyth.

During this visit, officers gave advice on internet safety, and how to identify scams.

This is also a great way for us to get to know our communities!

APPEAL | We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 6.10pm on Tuesday 5th of May.

The collision took place on the A44, between Capel Bangor and Goginan, and involved a single white coloured VW Golf.

The VW Golf was travelling eastbound towards Goginan when it left the carriageway.

Sadly, the driver of the VW Golf died at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police in one of the following ways:
