This week is Armed Forces week and here is the main reasons it aims to promote.
The primary role of Armed Forces Week in the UK is to provide a dedicated national campaign to build public understanding, appreciation, and support for the entire UK Armed Forces community.
This annual event acts as a vital bridge to reconnect civilians with the personnel who protect national security, deliver humanitarian aid, and preserve peace both at home and overseas.
The Core Objectives of the Week
Honouring the Military Community: It celebrates the dedication of regular troops, reservists, veterans, cadets, and the military families who support them.
Boosting Morale: Public celebrations offer a massive moral boost to troops and their families by acknowledging their hidden sacrifices.
Promoting the Armed Forces Covenant: It highlights the nation's mutual pledge to ensure that military personnel and veterans face no societal disadvantages.
Highlighting Post-Service Skills: The campaign showcases veterans as national assets, promoting employment opportunities in sectors like engineering, cyber security, and logistics.
As a veteran of 24 years service, it gives us a time to reflect on our service and support those who still serve.
And its especially poignant as its Pride Month too, and I served with quite a few LGBTQ+, when they couldn't show their sexuality and when they could.
