We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the farm very soon!πŸ™‚β€. We are starting to wake the cottages up from their winter rest ready for opening again in March.
Despite the storms, Spring has suddenly made a welcome appearance here - we have just seen our first lesser celandines, buttercups, daisies, dandelions and our first open daffodil to join the snowdrops 🌼.
We also heard today that following their recent panel discussion, the National Park have added us to their list of 'Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation' also known as Local Wildlife Sites. We're really proud to be on the list! all that haymaking, clearing and coppicing has finally paid off!🌞🌳
See you soon! And stay safe in the storms.
Best wishes from Roy and B

Because of Covid 19 we have revisited our cleaning and turnaround routine. We will now be leaving a full 2 days in between guest arrivals and departures to give us sufficient time to thoroughly clean and disinfect. We have also signed up to the Airbnb Enhanced Cleaning Protocol. We miss you and we're looking forward to opening again :)

Well we've certainly had some weather recently. Power cuts are very rare for us outside the winter months but we do provide the cottages with emergency battery powered lights for those inconvenient moments. Last night we were given the opportunity to test them!πŸ™‚

We put the new dormice boxes up in the hazel coppice the other day. It was a beautiful winter's day and it was lovely to see the ponies and sheep enjoy the sunshine 🌞 So I took a few photos as we were trundling round the land :)

It was lovely today having a few minutes to look for butterflies - the knapweed, ragwort and buddleia seem to be firm favourites. Plus a couple of nice surprises in the grass.

Last year we decided to start making environmentally friendly hay. This means that we wait until late summer before cutting the meadows for hay so that the grasses and flowers have a chance to set seed. We have already noticed an increase in insects, butterflies and the number of flowers in the meadows: the orchids, betony, knapweed and harebells have all multiplied since last year which we're really pleased about. Oh and the sheep have been sheared so everyone's happy :)
