Please be reminded, the temporary fencing near Gadlys Pit Car Park in is essential to ensure the publicโ€™s safety, due to the worsening condition of a large wall.

Residents should not attempt to move the fencing โ€“ doing so could put you and others at risk.

The alternative routes for pedestrians are via Dare Villas, Dover Terrace and Gadlys Road (for East Avenue), and Dare Villas and Dover Terrace (for Gadlys Terrace).

In relation to the next steps, the Council is working with the adjacent landowner over a resolution to the issue with the wall.

A further update will be issued to residents at the appropriate time. Thanks

Dog Fouling Consultation Set to Begin!

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council will shortly begin a public consultation process, on what measures residents would like to see put in place to continue to tackle dog fouling and dog control across the County Borough.

In October 2017, RCT Council was one of the first Local Authorities to introduce strict rules in terms of dog controls, when it put in place a Public Space and Protection Order (PSPO). Following public consultation in 2020 and 2023, these controls were then extended for a further SIX years and the rules have now been on place across RCT for NINE years.

The feedback from residents in previous consultations showed that they felt that the order had improved the cleanliness of the streets and increased enforcement against irresponsible dog owners.

Under the conditions of the PSPO the Council must review and consider the order every three years, to ensure that the controls still meet the needs of the public โ€“ as such the Council will now once again be seeking residentsโ€™ views on how successful they feel these measures have been and whether they should remain in place.

The Consultation will begin on Monday 8th June and last for 6 weeks, ending on Monday 20th July

Residents wishing to take part can do so in a number of ways and full details can be found at๐Ÿ‘‰ https://orlo.uk/iwV4k

The Council is providing an update on the pictured footway closure in , near the entrance to Gadlys Pit Car Park, due to an unsafe wall.

The path was originally closed on May 22 between the car park and East Avenue, and upon further inspection of the structure, the adjacent path to Gadlys Terrace will now also need to be closed from Thursday, June 4.

The temporary fencing that was previously installed is being adjusted, while an addition section is being installed on Thursday along the newly-closed section.

While the fencing will need to be extended into the road, please note that access to Gadlys Pit Car Park will remain open as usual with a narrowed carriageway.

Please also note, itโ€™s important that the fencing is not moved by residents, as the closure is essential due to the safety of the wall. Removing the fencing could put you and others in danger.

The alternative routes for pedestrians are via Dare Villas, Dover Terrace and Gadlys Road (for East Avenue), and Dare Villas and Dover Terrace (for Gadlys Terrace).

Thanks to the community for your cooperation.

๐Ÿ“ž Landline Switchover Update

The UK is moving from the old analogue landline system to BTโ€™s new Digital Voice by January 2027. This means clearer, more reliable calls and better protection from scams.

I know some people rely heavily on their landline, so if you or someone you know needs extra support with the switchover, BT can help, including engineer visits and backup options.
