Women can be the architects of peace.

At the Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Conference in Strasbourg, experts from across sectors called for stronger participation of women in conflict resolution and post-conflict recovery.

👉 The message is clear: peace cannot be lasting if it excludes women.

Despite strong evidence that women’s involvement leads to more inclusive and durable peace agreements, barriers such as discrimination, sexism, and gender-based violence still limit their participation.

Inclusive sport starts with visibility, representation and the right support.

German Para athlete Friederike Brose speaks about the need for specialised training for coaches and greater visibility for the Para sport.

Her message is part of the EU-Council of Europe's Sport For All project, promoting inclusion, equal opportunities and access to sport for persons with disabilities across Europe.

🌱Welcome to the first ever European Forum on environmental human rights defenders Forum! 
 
Some 400 defenders, policymakers, civil society leaders, academics, and representatives from international institutions, from nearly all 46 Council of Europe countries, are meeting to discuss about the protection of environmental defenders, civic space and environmental democracy in Europe.
 
🎙️We had the opportunity to interview Anna and Gabriele, two inspiring environmental defenders, who shared their experiences and insights from the forum.

Ever wondered what it’s like to argue in front of the European Court? 📜
 
We interviewed four students that participated in this year’s Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition, organised jointly by the Council of Europe and . The mock legal proceedings take place in Strasbourg at the Council of Europe, with the final at the European Court of Human Rights.
 
After months of written submissions, regional rounds and many pleadings, 18 university teams (from 13 countries) qualified, going head-to-head to win a legal case concerning criminal behaviour in cyberspace, artificial-intelligence tools in criminal cases, and the right to a fair trial.
