I seem to have spent three days driving around endlessly, with a combination of children, animals and furniture. Boy I’m tired! So I’m a bit late with this next post. Possibly also because I was rather avoiding it. Gosh I didn’t realise this would still be so difficult after all of these years. But I’m not sure it’s possible to understand our story without knowing about this parallel battle we were going through for so long. It’s the last I’ll talk about it here, but if anyone feels moved to tell me their stories privately then I’m here. I know that many situations don’t end as happily as ours.

Episode 2, June 2018: Our first major renovation project was the old Coach House of the château. We have done SO many videos about this epic project over on YouTube and it’s impossible to reduce into a single caption. Oh go on then, I’ll try…. ‘Ruined building takes 6 years to renovated due to a global health event and the birth of two children.’ Actually, some of you might have seen bits of this when we were on THAT tv show. The first major work was to install these incredible beams, which still carry a huge wow factor when people come in. And that’s not just due to the curtain of spider webs.

And so we start. May 2018. I finally stopped moving around for probably the first time in 20 years. We had owned the chateau for a while but had work commitments elsewhere for a long while. In 2018 the gardens and château were superficially beautiful but had deep-rooted problems that we needed to tackle if it was to become a dynamic, working estate and home again. The gardens were always our favourite place to be. Especially at the front, with views of the Alps and the Ardèche mountains. But as with much of this place, if were to undo some of the damage of the 20th century and return it to its glorious heyday then it needs to get worse before it gets better! Before we get started, let’s just remind everyone how it started. We’ll keep the crazy volcano meet cute for another time, but really all you need to know is that we met and got married somewhere in the 2013-14 time period and it all got weirder from there. We’ll pick up the story next time from our 2018 permanent move to the Château.

Dernières répétitions et préparatifs pour le concert de ce samedi 29 août. Les musiciens sont époustouflants, la météo s’annonce clémente et la grange est magnifique. Il ne reste que quelques places. Réservez vite si vous souhaitez passer quelques heures à explorer le domaine du château, profiter d’une belle musique et d’un bar proposant les bons vins de chez Delas et ainsi que les jus de fruits locaux de . C’est le dernier jour pour commander votre panier-dîner composé de produits locaux et de légumes de notre potager !

CONCERT D'OPÉRA AU CHÂTEAU DE ROSIÈRES
Samedi 29 août 2026 à 19h30

Aria’s d’été, le premier concert de notre programmation 2026, sera une soirée estivale consacrée aux arias d’opéras avec la chanteuse locale Rachel Julie Petit, accompagnée au piano par Mathilde Girard. Pour célébrer l’été, les jardins privés du château seront ouverts avant le concert à partir de 17h30. Venez découvrir les travaux de restauration en cours et les récentes découvertes archéologiques.

10 years later and we are finally landscaping our chateau grounds! On the orders of our landscape architect we're continued to dig up our front lawn to see if we can find any traces of the historic terraces that were built there centuries ago. This week Amy also takes the time to harvest cherries to make a very special French dessert.
