Une conférence de haut-niveau sur les femmes et filles en Afghanistan, s'est tenue à Paris vendredi dernier, au siège de l'Organisation, avec la collaboration de la Délégation permanente d'Afghanistan auprès de l'UNESCO, où des personnalités surtout des femmes afghanes de la société civile et d'ONG ont pris parole. La Conférence a été ouverte par les interventions de M. Xing QU, le Directeur général adjoint de l'UNESCO et M. Homayoon AZIZI, Ambassadeur, Délégué permanent d'Afghanistan auprès de l'UNESCO. Une journée riche en témoignages et interventions, des hauts Responsables de l'Organisation y sont aussi intervenu tour à tour, suivi de deux panels, où la discussion et témoignages ont été fort émotives demandant des solutions et des réponses concertes face à la situation des femmes afghanes, quelques Représentants des Délégations permanentes des autres Etats-membres ont aussi pris parole en apportant leur soutien, et L'UNESCO elle-même a tenu à rappeler son soutien inébranlable au combat des femmes et filles afghanes pour défendre leur droit et l'accès à l'éducation.... et exigeant la réouverture des établissements scolaires des filles...

A high-level conference on women and girls in Afghanistan was held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris last Friday, in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of Afghanistan to UNESCO, where leading figures, especially Afghan women from civil society and NGOs, took the floor. The Conference was opened by Mr. Xing QU, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, and Mr. Homayoon AZIZI, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Afghanistan to UNESCO. A day rich in testimonies and speeches, with senior representatives of the Organization taking the floor in turn, followed by two panels, where discussions and testimonies were highly emotional, calling for concerted solutions and responses to the situation of Afghan women. Representatives of the Permanent Delegations of other Member States also took the floor, lending their support, and UNESCO itself was keen to reiterate its unwavering support for the struggle of Afghan women and girls to defend their right and access to education. ... and demanding the reopening of girls' schools...
