🕯 On the evening of June 6, Bernières-sur-Mer paid a moving tribute as the Lantern of the Maison des Canadiens was carried down to the sea, accompanied by flowers cast by the public in memory of the soldiers who made History on June 6, 1944, landing on the beaches of Normandy under enemy fire.
Each flower carried a memory, a face, a story of courage. In this moment of collective reflection, in which the Embassy of Canada took part, the light served as a reminder of the importance of never forgetting, of passing on this memory, and of continuing to uphold the values of peace and freedom.
Our sincere thanks to the Canada House - La Maison des Canadiens - Association to the volunteers, and to all participants for this ceremony marked by dignity, respect, and emotion.
