Aujourd'hui c'est la Saint Aubert à qui Saint Michel demanda de construire l'abbaye. Alors nous partons pour l'abbaye du Mont Saint Michel !
Saint Aubert aurait rêvé à trois reprises de l'archange qui lui ordonna de lui consacrer un sanctuaire au sommet du mont Tombe. Hésitant par crainte d’être le jouet d’une illusion du Malin, il est convaincu par la troisième apparition de l'archange qui sermonne l'évêque, lui répète l’ordre du ciel. La forte pression évoqué dans le Revelatio se traduit par le doigt angélique qui laisse une cicatrice profonde à la tête.

Today is the feast day of Saint Aubert, whom Saint Michael asked to build the abbey. So, we are off to the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel!
Saint Aubert reportedly dreamt three times of the archangel ordering him to dedicate a sanctuary to him at the summit of Mont Tombe. Although he initially hesitated—fearing he was being deceived by an illusion of the Evil One—he was convinced by the archangel's third appearance, during which the archangel admonished the bishop and reiterated the heavenly command. The intense pressure described in the *Revelatio* manifested physically as the touch of an angelic finger, which left a deep indentation in his skull.

L'abbatiale de Bernay, est ouverte jusqu'au 27 septembre de 14h à 18h, tous les jours sauf le lundi. Construite entre 1013 et 1050 par le moine bâtisseur Guillaume de Volpiano, cette abbaye normande influença l’éclosion de l’art roman en Normandie. Au cours des siècles, l’édifice subit bien des ravages : incendie, guerre de Cent Ans, révolte de paysans au XVIème siècle… Exceptionnellement haute pour l’époque, elle s’échelonne sur trois niveaux et possède différents chapiteaux : masques humains, « têtes feuillues», motifs végétaux ou géométriques…

The Bernay Abbey church is open daily—except Mondays—from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until September 27. Built between 1013 and 1050 by the monk-architect William of Volpiano, this Norman abbey influenced the emergence of Romanesque art in Normandy. Over the centuries, the building suffered significant damage, including fire, the Hundred Years' War, and a 16th-century peasant revolt. Exceptionally tall for its time, the structure rises over three levels and features a variety of capitals adorned with human masks, "leafy heads," and plant or geometric motifs.

Pour clôturer sa saison d'ouverture, le Manoir du Catel organise dimanche 30 aout à 16h30 une soirée poésie et musique de François Villon à Genet "La balade des poètes maudits". L'occasion de découvrir la plus ancienne maison forte de Normandie, ancienne propriété des abbés de Fécamp.

To wrap up its opening season, the Manoir du Catel is hosting a poetry and music evening on Sunday, August 30, at 4:30 PM, titled "La balade des poètes maudits" (The Ballad of the Accursed Poets), featuring works ranging from François Villon to Genet. It is an opportunity to discover Normandy's oldest fortified manor, formerly the property of the Abbots of Fécamp.

A nouveau de belles photos de l'abbaye de la Lucerne. Comme on vous le disait il y a peu, il est encore temps de visiter l' Abbaye de La Lucerne jusqu'au 27 septembre. du mercredi au samedi de 10h00 à 18h00 et le dimanche de 14h00 à 18h00. Construite dans la seconde moitié du XIIe siècle, l’abbaye fut restaurée au XVème et au XVIIème siècle.
Les constructions romanes, d’esprit cistercien par leur sobriété et leur rigueur. L’ensemble est dominé par une tour anglo-normande qui déjà annonce l’architecture gothique.

There is still time to visit La Lucerne Abbey until September 27—from Wednesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Built in the second half of the 12th century, the abbey underwent restoration in the 15th and 17th centuries.
The Romanesque structures reflect a Cistercian spirit through their sobriety and austerity. The complex is dominated by an Anglo-Norman tower that already heralds Gothic architecture.

L' Abbaye de Longues rouvrira ses portes le 1er septembre jusqu'au 9 septembre. Fondée au XIIème siècle et contemporaine de Notre Dame de Paris, l’abbaye de Longues offre un témoignage exceptionnel de la vie religieuse normande au Moyen-Age. Longues Abbey will reopen its doors from September 1st to September 9th. Founded in the 12th century and contemporary with Notre-Dame de Paris, Longues Abbey offers exceptional insight into Norman religious life during the Middle Ages. Highlights include the choir—restored in 2022 and now open to visitors—as well as the guesthouse, which was restored in 2023.

Nous fêtons aujourd'hui la Saint-Ouen ! Alors comment ne pas évoquer l'abbatiale qui porte son nom à Rouen.. Saint-Ouen fut évêque de Rouen, il est ordonné le 13 mai 641. Il favorise l'essor du monachisme colombanien et aide saint Wandrille à fonder l'abbaye de Fontenelle, saint Philibert, celle de Jumièges, et d'autres établissements monastiques : l'abbaye de la Trinité de Fécamp, l'abbaye de Montivilliers... Fondée vers 750, l’abbaye de Saint-Ouen fut l’un des plus puissants monastères bénédictins de Normandie. Ses proportions sont imposantes : 137 m de long sous 33 m de voûtes.

Today we celebrate Saint Ouen! It is only fitting, then, to mention the abbey church in Rouen that bears his name. Saint Ouen served as Bishop of Rouen, having been ordained on May 13, 641. He fostered the growth of Columbanian monasticism and assisted Saint Wandrille in founding the Abbey of Fontenelle, Saint Philibert with the Abbey of Jumièges, and other monastic establishments such as the Abbey of the Trinity at Fécamp and the Abbey of Montivilliers. Founded around 750, the Abbey of Saint Ouen was one of the most powerful Benedictine monasteries in Normandy. Its proportions are imposing: 137 meters in length, with vaults rising to a height of 33 meters.

Jusqu'au 30 aout une exposition Playmobil retraçant les grandes dates de l'histoire de la Normandie est présentée à l'abbaye aux dames à Caen. L'occasion de découvrir ce lieu majestueux et de divertir les enfants en leur faisant découvrir l'histoire par la même occasion. L'abbaye aux Dames de Caen ou abbaye de la Sainte-Trinité est un ancien monastère de moniales bénédictines fondé au XIe siècle qui se dresse sur le territoire de la commune française de Caen dans le département du Calvados, en région Normandie. C'est l'une des deux grandes abbayes, avec l'abbaye aux Hommes, fondées par Guillaume le Bâtard le futur conquérant, vers 1060[1], à Caen. Son église abbatiale de la Trinité abrite depuis 1083 le tombeau de Mathilde de Flandre, l'épouse de Guillaume le Conquérant.

An exhibition featuring Playmobil figures and tracing key moments in Normandy's history is on display at the Abbaye aux Dames in Caen until August 30. It offers a chance to explore this majestic site while entertaining children and introducing them to history at the same time. The Abbaye aux Dames (or Abbey of the Holy Trinity) is a former Benedictine nunnery founded in the 11th century; it stands in the commune of Caen, in the Calvados department of the Normandy region. Along with the Abbaye aux Hommes, it is one of the two great abbeys founded in Caen around 1060 by William the Bastard—the man who would become the Conqueror. Since 1083, its abbey church, the Church of the Holy Trinity, has housed the tomb of Matilda of Flanders, the wife of William the Conqueror.
