Chateau de Gudanes, an abandoned, neglected and ruined château, tucked neatly into a deep valley in the French Pyrénées. Built in the 1740's, on a site with remains of where the first stories of religious tragedies began in the 13th century. This Class 1 Historic Monument was designed by Parisian architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, famous for his neoclassical, architectural symmetry, including the Le Petit Trianon and Place de la Concorde. Now this sleeping beauty is being reawakened as its restoration begins. Giving back the love it deserves, and unravelling the spirit of the past. Opening the door to a world of wonder, both real and imagined...

As another beautiful summer at the château continues, our thoughts are wandering towards the next summer yet to come… 🌻☀️🏰

To long golden days beneath the Pyrénées sun, mornings spent wandering through French marchés and brocantes, baskets filled with flowers and produce, leisurely afternoons by the pool, and candlelit dinners lingering long into the evening.

And so, it is with great joy that we share the release of our Summer 2027 Château Ateliers, with reservations now officially open.

Next June and July, we invite you to step through the château doors and experience the French summer slowly - surrounded by centuries of history, breathtaking nature, beautiful food, old traditions, creativity and the simple pleasure of having nowhere else you need to be.

Our ateliers are intimate gatherings, created as an invitation to make the château your home for a little while. To learn alongside artisans and chefs, discover ancient villages, farmer’s markets and hidden corners of the Ariège, gather around candlelit tables, swim beneath the summer sky, and find quiet moments simply to read, rest and dream within these old walls.

Above all, they are a celebration of l’art de vivre - of making something beautiful with your hands, savouring what is in season, sharing a table with new friends, and rediscovering the increasingly rare luxury of time.

We so look forward to all that awaits us next summer - and to perhaps sharing a little of its magic with you ✨

There is something rather magical about the changing of the seasons at Château de Gudanes.

This year as summer gently gives way to autumn and the first whispers of winter arrive, the Château transforms into a place of quiet creativity, slow living and heartfelt gatherings. It is during these beautiful seasons that we invite you to join us for two very special experiences, thoughtfully created to celebrate the art of making by hand and the simple joy of living well.

The restoration of Gudanes has always been about far more than the preservation of stone and timber. It is the reawakening of a living home where old world traditions can once again be cherish, shared and celebrated.

🍂 The Autumn Atelier
A gentle retreat dedicated to craftsmanship, creativity and repose. Spend your days immersed in embroidery, calligraphy, traditional French cooking and centuries-old artisan skills, balanced with peaceful promenades through the Pyrenees, moments of meditation, seasonal meals and the quiet rhythm of château life.

✨ The Noël Atelier
As winter settles across the mountains, gather beneath candlelight for a handmade Christmas inspired by the traditions of centuries past. Create heirloom ornaments, festive candles, illuminated Christmas cards, traditional crackers and seasonal delicacies while sharing joyful evenings beside the fire.

These ateliers are about far more than learning a new skill.

They are an invitation to slow down. To create with your hands. To reconnect with tradition. To embrace the beauty of the changing seasons, the comfort of gathering around a table, and the simple pleasure of making something meaningful to carry home.

A little garden walk at the Château yesterday with the animal family 🌿🌹✨🐶🐈
The roses are in full bloom, everything is lush and green, and the gardens are feeling so alive right now. In the spirit of the season, we are looking forward to more planting this weekend 🌱💚

Stepping back into spring after a long, intentional pause. We’ve been tucked away in our own quiet hibernation, trading screens for stillness. So happy to be back in this space with a little more peace in our pockets. How have you been? Did we miss any magic while we were gone? These are the first bloom of daffodils planted last autumn. Thank you for planting 1000 bulbs to decorate the front terrace in springtime. Wishing you a bon-weekend 🇫🇷💕
