🇲🇭 When energy costs rise, the impacts are felt across Marshall Islands by families, small businesses, schools, health services, and communities.

That’s why we’re working with the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to help respond to the energy crisis and ease pressure on essential services and the national budget.

With an additional US$9 million in support, we’re helping RMI protect services, support jobs and livelihoods, and continue reforms that strengthen resilience to future shocks.

This partnership is about helping communities manage today’s pressures while building a stronger foundation for the future.

🇸🇧Following the damage from Cyclone Maila we are standing with the Government of Solomon Islands as it supports affected communities and works to restore services, rebuild infrastructure, and help people recover. 🇸🇧

Through US$5 million in support, we are helping contribute to the Government’s recovery plan, including efforts to reopen schools, restore health services, and support communities as they rebuild. 🌱

We will continue working with Solomon Islands and partners to strengthen preparedness and resilience, so communities are better protected when future shocks come.

Papua New Guinea’s🇵🇬 justice reform efforts were in the global spotlight this week at the World Bank Group’s 2026 Fragility Forum in Washington, DC where leaders from around the world came together to exchange ideas and drive solutions for stronger, more resilient communities.

Representing PNG, Dr. Eric Kwa, Secretary for the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, shared lessons from the country’s reform journey highlighting how strong national ownership, early action, and partnerships, alongside initiatives like the National Coordinating Mechanism, have helped align police, courts, and correctional services and demonstrate the impact of locally driven solutions.

🇫🇯 Ni sa bula Vinaka! The recent launch of the iTaukei Glossary of Conservation and Climate Change Terms in Suva marks a major milestone in making climate and conservation discussions more accessible, culturally grounded and community-led across Fiji 🌿- supported by the World Bank EnABLE (Enhancing Access to Benefits while Lowering Emissions) Trust Fund.

It also shows that indigenous knowledge is not separate from climate science, but an essential part of it 🤝. By introducing these new and evolving terms, it helps make complex environmental ideas easier to understand, discuss and act on in ways that are rooted in culture and everyday life in Fiji 🇫🇯.

For Indigenous Fijians and holders of traditional knowledge, this means greater ownership of climate conversations, stronger participation in decision-making, and a better way to pass knowledge to younger generations 📚.

We’re proud to be part of this step toward protecting language, strengthening the vanua🌺. 🌏 🌿

🏥When people don’t have access to healthcare, the impact goes far beyond health. ⚠️ 📈

It can mean:
• Missing work 💼
• Losing income & jobs 💸
• Falling behind in school 📚
• Fewer opportunities over time ⏳

🌏In East Asia and the Pacific, investing in health workers is expanding access to care - especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas - while also supporting local jobs and strengthening communities. So - health workers help communities stay healthy and productive! 🤝 http://wrld.bg/ECyi50Z0UCP

MEDIA RELEASE: Strengthening Correspondent Banking Relationships Across the Region

18 May, 2026: Pacific Island countries, regional institutions and international partners will convene in Nadi, Fiji this week for the Pacific Risk Based Supervision Workshop as part of the Strengthening Correspondent Banking Relationships in the Pacific Project.

The three-day regional workshop held from 19-21 May will be co-hosted by the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat, World Bank and the Reserve Bank of Fiji bringing together financial regulators, technical experts and development partners to strengthen and advance practical solutions that support Correspondent Banking Relationships (CBRs) across the Pacific and, Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism

Correspondent Banking Relationships are essential to the Pacific region’s economic connectivity, enabling international payments, trade, remittances, tourism transactions and access to the global financial system.

As Pacific economies remain heavily reliant on these services, strengthening and sustaining CBR access continues to be a critical regional priority.
