Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission FCCC promotes effective competition, informed markets, encourages fair trading and protects consumers

FCCC is an independent Fijian statutory authority whose role is to enforce the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010 (the FCCC Act 2010), promoting competition, fair trading, regulating prices in markets where competition is lessened or limited, and regulating monopolistic market situations including national infrastructure for the benefit of all Fijians.

Did you know that majority of the essential items you see on supermarket shelves are imported and then processed or packaged right here in Fiji?

As an independent statutory body, operating with the full authority granted by Section 38 of the FCCC Act 2010, FCCC determines and sets regulated prices. We meticulously use comprehensive data, detailed cost structures, and thorough market assessments to establish these prices, ensuring fairness for consumers and traders.

For all price-controlled items, FCCC considers key factors such as:

-Procurement cost

-Foreign Exchange Fluctuations

-Freight and Distribution

-Packaging Costs

-Acceptable Profit Margins

All these are reviewed independently by FCCC to ensure you’re not overpaying, and traders stay viable.

Shopping for skincare or makeup online?

Before you click 'buy', ensure you do the following:

Check the Ingredient List- Every cosmetic product must clearly display its ingredients.

Educate Yourself- Research the listed ingredients and be cautious of harmful chemicals, especially in unverified skin-lightening or fast acting products.

Verify the Source- Purchase from reputable brands and authorised retailers. Counterfeit cosmetics are often made in unsanitary conditions and may cause severe allergic reactions or long-term health issues.

Do you know what bait advertising is?

This is when a trader/business advertises goods at a heavy discount boasting big savings when the goods are not available in reasonable quantities during the promotion.

This is done in the guise of luring consumers into their shops or websites so that they can check out other products once they have discovered that the discounted item is out of stock.

Bait advertising is against the Act!

If you ever encounter a case of bait advertising, please reach out to us at https://linktr.ee/fijianccc
