The Minister for Education, the Honourable Aseri Radrodro , is calling on all Fijians to stand together in support of persons with albinism and to promote a society free from stigma and discrimination.
This yearโs global theme, โProudly In My Skin: Celebrating All Skin Tones,โ reminds us to value every person for who they are, beyond physical appearance.
The Minister stressed that inclusion means ensuring people with albinism are treated with dignity, respect, and safety in all spaces, schools, workplaces, and communities. He also highlighted that discrimination, whether open or subtle, has no place in our society.
Albinism is a rare, non contagious genetic condition present at birth. People with albinism may have vision challenges and are more vulnerable to skin damage due to low melanin. The Ministry of Education continues to support efforts to improve access to healthcare, education, and other services so that persons with albinism can live healthy and fulfilling lives.
Honourable Radrodro encourages all schools, communities, and workplaces to take part in awareness activities, learn the facts about albinism, and help stop harmful myths and misunderstandings.
Let us continue to build a society where every person is valued, included, and able to live with dignity.
