FIJI IS EXPANDING ACCESS TO PRE-EXPOSURE PROHYLAXIS (PrEP) WITH UNDAIDS SUPPORT.

Fiji has officially begun community-based PrEP delivery, marking a significant step in strengthening HIV prevention, reducing new infections, and expanding access to stigma-free healthcare services across the country.

A pilot outreach was conducted in Suva combining:
HIV education
PrEP awareness
HIV and STI testing

The Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji informed that the rollout simplifies access pathways and addresses structural barriers that have limited HIV prevention services.

When PrEP medication is taken correctly, it can reduce the risk of sexually acquired HIV by approximately 99%.

SIGATOKA HOSPITAL HAS A NEW FLOOR-MOUNTED X-RAY MACHINE.

We are pleased to announce that the installation, commissioning, and testing of the new General Floor-Mounted Digital X-Ray Machine at Sigatoka Subdivisional Hospital has now been successfully completed.

This important investment will significantly strengthen diagnostic imaging services, improving access to timely and accurate diagnoses for the people of Sigatoka and the wider Nadroga-Navosa region.

The new digital radiology system supports the Ministry's commitment to Primary Health Care (PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by bringing quality healthcare services closer to our communities and reducing delays in patient care.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all teams involved in making this project a success. Together, we continue to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve health outcomes for all Fijians.

"I raised concerns regarding the growing public perception of corruption within the Force, the loss of police investigation files and exhibits, the increasing number of Internal Affairs cases involving police officers, and the worrying trend of high-profile criminal and illicit drug cases being dismissed or resulting in acquittals.

The public deserves assurance that investigations are conducted professionally, evidence is protected, accountability is upheld, and the integrity of the Fiji Police Force remains uncompromised."
