On the occasion of Africa Day 2026, the Somaliland Embassy in Ethiopia proudly joins African nations and peoples in commemorating the 63rd Anniversary of the establishment of the OAU, now the African Union (AU).

Somaliland reaffirms its steadfast commitment to peace, democratic governance, regional cooperation, and sustainable development. For over three decades, Somaliland has demonstrated lasting stability and responsible self-governance within the borders inherited at independence in 1960 โ€” reinforcing its legitimate case for full international recognition.

๐๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ - The Somaliland Embassy in Ethiopia had the honour to officially commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland and the National Day of 18th May 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the national theme: โ€œ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‘๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.โ€

The commemoration brought together diplomats, members of the Somaliland community in Ethiopia, including business leaders and traders, students, and the wider Somaliland diaspora, reflecting the unity, resilience, and collective aspirations of the Somaliland people.

The occasion was also honoured by the participation of senior government officials from the Republic of Somaliland, including the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Somaliland, Honourable Mohamed Abdirahman, and the Deputy Commander of the Somaliland National Police, ๐†๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐€๐›๐๐ข ๐€๐ก๐ฆ๐ž๐ ๐“๐ข๐ข๐ซ.
