🇪🇹 Ethiopia knows exactly how to restrain Egypt.
Ethiopia is not weak — and we have never been intimidated. For decades, Cairo has poured unconditional political, military, and diplomatic support into forces designed to undermine Ethiopia’s unity, our regional security, and our rightful interests in the Horn of Africa. We see the strategy clearly — and Ethiopia will not bow to it.
Our adversary, the Eritrean regime, has been surviving on Egyptian backing. That equation changes the moment Ethiopia uses the Nile Basin as a negotiation instrument. GERD is complete. And if required, Ethiopia can move forward with additional major dam projects — not one, but three or more — on our sovereign rivers to constrain Egypt’s hostile policy.
We have the Abbay, the Tekeze, the Baro–Akobo–Sobat basin, and dozens of tributaries — Didessa, Dabus, Beles, Guder, Muger, Jamma, Bashilo, and others. Ethiopia can develop and coordinate dams across these waters, legally and simultaneously, if Egypt continues its adversarial approach.
Let it be clear: if the Egyptian government does not stop its policy of backing Eritrea against Ethiopia, then Ethiopia will take strategic actions that Cairo will feel first and most. With real leverage on the Nile, Ethiopia will sit at the table from a position of strength — and the decades-long illusion of Eritrea’s guaranteed protection will crumble in seconds. When Ethiopia shifts the balance, Eritrea will find itself alone — isolated in the desert with no savior.
And to the “Kim Jong-un of the Horn of Africa” — When Prime Minister Abiy said, “If things go south, no one will help you,” he meant it. No foreign hand will save you from the consequences of betting against Ethiopia.
🇪🇹 Ethiopia stands firm, determined, and sovereign.
