Dan il-jum nazzjonali jfakkar it-tmiem ta’ tliet avvenimenti li biddlu l-kors tal-istorja tagħna: l-Assedju l-Kbir tal-1565 kontra l-Imperu Ottoman, l-imblokk Franċiż tal-Belt Valletta fl-1800, u l-Assedju ta’ Malta fit-Tieni Gwerra Dinjija li ntemm fl-1943.

Dan hu jum ta’ tifkira, kuraġġ u kburija nazzjonali.

Ninfurmaw lill-pubbliku li llum l-Ambaxxata ta’ Malta f’Madrid se tkun magħluqa. Il-ħidma normali terġa’ tibda għada, l-Erbgħa 9 ta’ Settembru.

Today, Malta commemorates Victory Day.

This national holiday marks the conclusion of three pivotal moments in our history: the Great Siege of 1565 against the Ottoman Empire, the French Blockade of Valletta in 1800, and the Siege of Malta during the Second World War, which came to an end in 1943.

It is a day of remembrance, courage, and national pride.

We wish to inform the public that the Embassy of Malta in Madrid will be closed today. Normal operations will resume tomorrow, Wednesday 9 September.

Hoy, Malta conmemora el Día de la Victoria.

Esta festividad nacional conmemora la conclusión de tres acontecimientos fundamentales que marcaron el curso de nuestra historia: el Gran Sitio de 1565 contra el Imperio Otomano, el Bloqueo Francés de La Valeta en 1800 y el Sitio de Malta durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, que llegó a su fin en 1943.

Es un día de recuerdo, valor y orgullo nacional.

Did you know that Villa Gwardamangia in Pietà, Malta, once welcomed King Alfonso XIII of Spain during his visit to Malta in 1927?

The historic residence later became the home of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip between 1949 and 1951, making it a remarkable part of Malta’s connections with European royal history.

The Embassy of Malta in Spain is pleased to highlight the participation of Mr Roman Villaescusa, Honorary Consul of Malta and Dean of the Consular Corps in Santander, in the cultural exhibition taking place from 26 August to 6 September at the Juan de Santander Civic Centre.

The exhibition brought together representatives of several countries forming part of the Consular Corps, including Brazil, Ecuador, Lithuania, Malta and Ukraine, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of their respective countries.

The initiative, supported by Councillors Mateo Echevarria Mendez and Álvaro Lavín of Santander City Council, provided an opportunity to celebrate and promote the cultural diversity represented by the Consular Corps in Santander.

Victoria (Gozo, Malta) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria have launched their first joint cultural project as both cities pursue the title of European Capital of Culture 2031.

As part of this initiative, Maltese urban artists Jason Joe Farrugia and Cynthia Saliba have created two urban art interventions on the walls of Castillo de Mata in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The artistic residency marks the beginning of a broader cultural collaboration between two island cities that share common challenges and opportunities. Building on recent institutional exchanges, the initiative aims to promote artistic mobility, strengthen cultural cooperation and pave the way for future joint projects.
