เมื่อวันที่ 4 กันยายน 2569 นายชีวินท์ ณ ถลาง เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงมาดริด ได้เข้าพบหารือข้อราชการกับนาย Luis Fonseca Sánchez อธิบดีกรมอเมริกาเหนือ ยุโรปตะวันออก และเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก กระทรวงการต่างประเทศสเปน เพื่อแนะนำตัวในโอกาสที่เอกอัครราชทูตฯ เข้ารับหน้าที่ใหม่ โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนความเห็นและแนวทางการกระชับความสัมพันธ์และความร่วมมือระหว่างไทย - สเปน อาทิ (1) การแลกเปลี่ยนการเยือนระดับรัฐมนตรีในช่วงปลายปี 2569 (2) การจัดประชุม Political Consultations ไทย - สเปน ครั้งที่ 8 ซึ่งเป็นกรอบการประชุมที่ไทยและสเปนใช้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูล และผลักดันประเด็นสำคัญในความสัมพันธ์อย่างรอบด้าน และ (3) การจัด Thailand – Spain Forum ครั้งที่ 4 ซึ่งเป็นการเสวนาวิชาการเพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ ภาคการศึกษา และภาคเอกชนระหว่างทั้งสองประเทศ
นอกจากนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ และอธิบดี Fonseca เห็นพ้องกันว่า ไทยและสเปนไม่ได้มีจุดเด่นเพียงด้านการท่องเที่ยวและวัฒนธรรม แต่ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังมีศักยภาพที่จะร่วมมือในสาขาอื่น ๆ ด้วย เช่น การแพทย์นาโน วิทยาศาสตร์ขั้นสูง เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพ พลังงานทดแทน ความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนาแบบไตรภาคี อุตสาหกรรมการป้องกันประเทศ ตลอดจนการรับมือประเด็นความท้าทายระหว่างประเทศ เช่น ความเสมอภาคทางเพศ อาชญากรรมออนไลน์ข้ามชาติ ยาเสพติด โดยประเทศไทยมีความสำคัญและอยู่ในความสนใจของฝ่ายสเปน ขณะที่ฝ่ายไทยยืนยันความพร้อมเป็นมิตรที่น่าเชื่อถือและไว้วางใจได้

On 4 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Ambassador, met with H.E. Mr. Luis Fonseca Sánchez, Director-General for North America, Eastern Europe and Asia-Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain, for an introductory courtesy call upon assumption of his new post.
The two sides exchanged views on ways to further strengthen Thailand–Spain relations and cooperation, including: (1) the exchange of ministerial-level visits towards the end of 2026; (2) the 8th Thailand–Spain Political Consultations, an established framework for the two countries to exchange information and advance key issues within their relations; and (3) the organisation of the 4th Thailand–Spain Forum, an academic forum aimed at promoting cooperation in academia, education and the private sector between the two countries.
In addition, Ambassador Nathalang and Director-General Fonseca agreed that Thailand and Spain have strengths and potential for cooperation beyond tourism and culture. Other promising areas include nanomedicine, advanced sciences, biotechnology, renewable energy, trilateral development cooperation, the defence industry, as well as addressing shared international challenges such as gender equality, transnational cybercrime and illicit drugs.
The Spanish side reaffirmed that Thailand is on its radar, while the Thai side reaffirmed its readiness as a reliable and trusted partner for Spain.

El 4 de septiembre de 2026, el Excmo. Sr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Embajador de Tailandia ante España, mantuvo una reunión de cortesía introductoria al Excmo. Sr. Luis Fonseca Sánchez, Director General para América del Norte, Europa Oriental y Asia-Pacífico del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de España, con motivo de su reciente incorporación a su nuevo cargo.
Durante el encuentro, ambas partes intercambiaron opiniones sobre maneras para seguir fortaleciendo las relaciones y la cooperación entre Tailandia y España, entre ellas: (1) el intercambio de visitas a nivel ministerial previsto para finales de 2026; (2) la celebración de la 8ª Reunión de Consultas Políticas Tailandia–España, un marco establecido para el intercambio de información y el impulso de cuestiones de interés común; y (3) la organización del 4º Foro Tailandia–España, un espacio de diálogo académico destinado a promover la cooperación entre ambos países en los ámbitos académico, educativo y empresarial.
Asimismo, el Embajador Nathalang y el Director General Fonseca coincidieron en que Tailandia y España se destacan no sólo por el turismo y la cultura, sino que cuentan también con otros sectores donde pueden cooperar, como la nanomedicina, las ciencias avanzadas, la biotecnología, las energías renovables, la cooperación trilateral al desarrollo y la industria de defensa, así como en la respuesta a desafíos internacionales comunes, entre ellos: la igualdad de género, la ciberdelincuencia transnacional y el tráfico ilícito de dr**as.
La parte española reafirmó que Tailandia está en su radar, mientras que la parte tailandesa se reiteró ser un socio fiable y de confianza para España.
