لا تصاحب الرجل الأحمق ,
و لا تقترب منه لتحادثه .
و احذر أن تتحدث مع رئيسك بطريقة غير لائقة ,
أو توجه له إهانة .
و لا تجعله يوبخك بكلماته ,
و لا ترد عليه كلمة بكلمة ,
فأنت لست ندا له .
تحدث بندية مع من هم فى نفس مقامك ,
و احذر الاندفاع فى الكلام .
إن الكلام المندفع يخرج من القلب الغاضب ,
كالزوبعة التى تسبق المطر .
إن الإنسان يبنى و يهدم بلسانه .
فقد يتفوه بكلمات قاسية فى نوبة غضب ,
أو يجيب بعبارات يستحق بسببها الضرب .
لأنها تحمل فى طياتها الشر .
و قد يسعى بين الناس و يخلق بينهم الشجار ,
حاملا أكاذيب و افتراءات ,
مثله فى ذلك مثل المعداوى ,
يمضى وقته جيئة و ذهابا ,
و يصنع فخاخا بكلماته .
يروح و يغدو بالمشاحنة ,
و عندما يأكل و يشرب فى الداخل ,
يسمع جوابه فى الخارج .
و اليوم الذى تكشف فيه جرائمه ,
يكون بؤسا على أطفاله .

الفصل التاسع من تعاليم الحكيم المصرى "أمنموبى"
Do not accompany the foolish man.
And don't go near him to talk to him.
And beware of talking to your boss in an inappropriate way,
Or insult him.
And don't let him scold you with his words,
And don't answer him word for word.
You are not his equal.
Talk friendly with people in your same position,
And beware of rushing to speak.
Impulsive words come out of an angry heart,
Like a storm that precedes the rain.
Man builds and destroys with his tongue.
He may utter harsh words in a fit of anger,
Or answer in terms that deserve a beating.
It carries evil.
He may seek among people and create quarrels among them.
bearing lies and slander,
Like that of the contagious,
He passes his time to and fro,
And he makes traps with his words.
It becomes a quarrel
And when he eats and drinks inside,
He hears his answer outside.
And the day his crimes are revealed,
be miserable for his children.
