Budget: 10 M EUR a Soft Loan from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti – Italy
About 8 M EUR have been allocated to purchase new tractors and implements for the target area . The project will encourage the socio-economic and environmental sustainability of the main farming systems through the reinforcement of the 14 Hiring Services Stations (HSS) which have been pre-selected as 9 in Fayoum and 5 in Minia, also providing farmers and Agriculture Cooperatives in Minia and Fayoum with effective innovative sustainable mechanization in order to increase sustainability of related farming systems. SAMSIMIFA promotes a strong participatory and knowledge management approach as a premise to individuate the suitable innovation to be introduced. Specific high qualified training in Egypt and in Italy, technical and scientific support and management services will be provided by CIHEAM Bari to enhance and update the capacities of Egyptian beneficiaries. A pilot management system to enhance HSSs performances will be established and tested by applying cost/benefit-efficiency ratio, cost recovery plan for each machinery services provided by HSS and the related adoption rate among users.
