I had a pleasant meeting with my brother, H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt, at State House Entebbe. We discussed strengthening Uganda-Egypt relations in the areas of trade, industrialisation, renewable energy, fish farming and water resource management.

I shared with him the need to support large-scale fish farming as a way of protecting wetlands, creating jobs and helping our people transition from subsistence agriculture to commercial production. We also discussed the importance of electricity and manufacturing in driving socio-economic transformation. We further exchanged views on regional peace and stability, emphasizing dialogue and African cooperation in resolving conflicts.

UPDATE - President Museveni has welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Uganda for official talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and advancing Africa’s shared interests.

H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, has arrived in Uganda for an official visit. He was received at Entebbe International Airport by Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Special Envoy for Special Duties in the Office of the President.

Uganda and Egypt are bound by the River Nile, a shared natural heritage that calls for cooperation, mutual respect and joint development.

President El-Sisi’s visit provides an opportunity to deepen dialogue on water, agriculture, energy and regional stability.
