وبكده نكون وصلنا لنهاية سلسلة محاضرات الصيفية! 🇺🇸🇪🇬

اختتمت السفارة الأمريكية في القاهرة سلسلة محاضراتها الصيفية باستضافة الدكتور عبد المنعم سعيد المفكر والمحلل السياسي، للحديث عن العلاقات المصرية الأمريكية في فترة ما بعد الحرب الباردة.

وشغل الدكتور عبد المنعم سعيد سابقًا منصب رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة المصري اليوم، ومؤسسة الأهرام، ومركز الأهرام للدراسات السياسية والاستراتيجية، والمركز الإقليمي للدراسات الاستراتيجية. كما كان باحثًا زائرًا في جامعة برانديز بالولايات المتحدة، وله العديد من المؤلفات.
كل الشكر للقائم بالأعمال روبرت سيلفرمان، اللي استضاف سلسلة المحاضرات بالكامل في منزله على مدار الصيف.

🇺🇸🇪🇬 Freedom250 Summer Lecture Series – That’s a Wrap!
U.S. Embassy Cairo closed out its Summer Lecture Series with Dr. Abdel Moneim Said, Political Thinker and Analyst, exploring "American-Egyptian Relations in the Post-Cold War Period." Dr. Said previously served as Chairman of the Board of the Al Masry Al Youm Foundation, Al-Ahram Foundation, Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, and the Regional Center for Strategic Studies. He has been a visiting fellow at Brandeis University in the United States and is the author of numerous books.

Thank you to Chargé d'Affaires Robert Silverman, who hosted the entire series at his residence throughout the summer.

لما يجتمع كبار العالم في مصر لتحديد مصير الحرب العالمية الثانية 🌍⚔️! في نوفمبر وديسمبر 1943، استضافت مصر "مؤتمر القاهرة" في فندق مينا هاوس. المؤتمر جمع الرئيس الأمريكي "روزفلت"، ورئيس وزراء بريطانيا "تشرشل"، والجنرال الصيني "تشيانغ كاي شيك". هنا صاغوا "إعلان القاهرة" التاريخي، واحتفلوا كمان بعيد الشكر الأمريكي مع بعض في 25 نوفمبر. مصر دايماً هي المكان اللي بيتجمع فيه الكبار لصناعة التاريخ!

When world leaders gathered in Egypt to decide the fate of the world 🌍⚔️! In November and December 1943, Egypt hosted the historic "Cairo Conference" at the Mena House Hotel. The summit brought together U.S. President Roosevelt, British PM Churchill, and Chinese Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek. They drafted the historic "Cairo Declaration" and even celebrated Thanksgiving together in Cairo on November 25, 1943. Egypt has always been the grand stage for shaping history!

مقبرة البساتين لليهود في القاهرة.. ثاني أقدم مقبرة يهودية في العالم! 🕊️ كجزء من التزامنا بصون التنوع الثقافي والتاريخي الغني لمصر، ساهم التمويل الأمريكي من خلال صندوق السفراء للحفاظ على التراث الثقافي (AFCP) في تمويل مشروع متكامل لترميم وتوثيق مقبرة البساتين التاريخية، بالتعاون مع مركز البحوث الأمريكي في مصر وجمعية "قطرة لبن". شمل المشروع تنظيف الموقع، وإصلاح الأسوار الجانبية، وصيانة قباب العائلات التاريخية مثل قبة "عائلة منشا" الأثرية، بالإضافة لتأسيس "حديقة الذكرى" ليبقى هذا الموقع رمزاً حياً للتعددية والتعايش على أرض مصر. #جذور
The Bassatine Jewish Cemetery in Cairo... the second oldest Jewish cemetery in the world! 🕊️ Reflecting our commitment to preserving Egypt’s diverse cultural tapestry, U.S. funding through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) supported a major conservation project at the historic Bassatine Cemetery. In collaboration with the Supreme Council of Antiquities and partnership with ARCE and the Drop of Milk Association, this project cleared extensive debris, secured boundary walls, restored historic family mausoleums—such as the iconic Menasha dome—and established the "Garden of Remembrance," safeguarding this vital chapter of Egypt's multicultural identity.

استضاف منزل القائم بالأعمال روبرت سيلفرمان الأسبوع الماضي محاضرة للدكتورة مارينا راستو، أستاذة جامعة برينستون والمتخصصة في تاريخ القاهرة في العصور الوسطى.
وخلال المحاضرة، اصطحبت الحضور في رحلة عبر قصة جنيزة القاهرة وهي إحدى أغنى مجموعات الوثائق التاريخية في العالم. هذه الوثائق، التي حُفظت لقرون في القاهرة القديمة والتي تكشف جوانب مدهشة من الحياة والتجارة في العصور الوسطى، وتُبرز الدور المحوري الذي لعبته القاهرة كحلقة وصل بين البحر الأحمر والبحر المتوسط. 📜✨

Marina Rustow, Princeton University professor and expert on medieval Cairo, gave a talk at Chargé d’Affaires Silverman home last week. She told the story of the Cairo Geniza, one of the world’s most remarkable collections of historical documents. Preserved for centuries in Old Cairo, these medieval documents reveal many stories, including of Red Sea- Mediterranean Sea trade with Cairo as the hinge. 📜✨
