The Map Library houses a collection of numerous types of maps covering all parts of the world, with special focus on Alexandria, Egypt; the Arab world, and the Mediterranean region. تسعى مكتبة الإسكندرية منذ افتتاحها إلى تقديم المعلومات في كافة صورها، سواء من خلال مجموعات الكتب، أو الدوريات، أو الوسائط المتعددة، أو المصادر الإلكترونية وغيرها.
وتوفر المكتبة مساحة عريضة للتعلم لجمهور متنوع من القراء

يضم الطلاب، والباحثين، والأطفال، وذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، وذلك من خلال المكتبة الرئيسية ومجموعة من المكتبات المتخصصة التي تضم مكتبة طه حسين لضعاف البصر، ومكتبة الطفل، ومكتبة النشء، ومكتبة الفنون والوسائط المتعددة، ومكتبة الكتب النادرة، ومكتبة الميكروفيلم.
وإيمانًا بدورها في توفير الخدمات المختلفة وفقًا لمتطلبات روادها، افتتحت مكتبة الإسكندرية "مكتبة الخرائط" في المستوى الرابع السفلى (B4) داخل قاعة الاطلاع الرئيسية بالمكتبة، وهي أحدث مكتبة متخصصة يتم إنشاؤها في مكتبة الإسكندرية لتلبية حاجات ومتطلبات القراء ورواد المكتبة من الباحثين، وذلك تماشيًا مع دور مكتبة الإسكندرية كهيئة داعمة للبحث العلمي في مصر، وتحقيقًا لأهدافها في أن تكون نافذة مصر على العالم ونافذة العالم على مصر.
