The new, modern elementary school is designed for more than 600 students and is expected to be completed in 2028. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District is managing construction of the project in close coordination with our German construction partners, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz and Department of War Education Activity (DOWEA).

This project is part of a broader effort to enhance military family life across Europe, with 18 new schools already completed as part of a $2.1 billion initiative the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is managing in close partnership with DoWEA across Germany and Belgium.

The Europe District hosted a Reverse Industry Day on Aug 11 in Frankfurt, inviting industry partners to brief district staff on their innovative commercial practices.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has traditionally relied on lengthy and rigid processes when it comes to project ex*****on, from contractor selection to construction completion. However, to deliver infrastructure to warfighters faster and more efficiently, the USACE Europe District hosted a reverse industry day, with the goal of learning and incorporating new methods of procurement and project delivery. Topics included Other Transaction Authorities (OTAs), Progressive Design Build, Design Build to Budget and other innovative methods.

The Europe District works closely with EUCOM and AFRICOM, in addition to a wide range of local partners to deliver infrastructure, engineering, real estate and general services to support U.S. National security interests across Europe and Africa.
