Recently, the 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion-Enhanced’s Charlie Company held a Change of Responsibility ceremony to officially welcome U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Joshua Hilbert to their formation, and bid a fond farewell to U.S. Army 1st Sgt. James Walker.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to 1st Sgt. Walker for his unwavering dedication, tireless hard work, and outstanding leadership during his tenure. His unwavering commitment to the Soldiers and the mission has left a lasting, positive impact on the Cobras. We wish him the absolute best as he moves on to his next assignment.

Although we close one chapter, we are excited to open another. We’re thrilled to have 1st Sgt. Hilbert. No one knows this company better than him. We look forward to his leadership and guidance as we continue to build upon the legacy and standard here at Charlie Company.

Exciting times at our 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion-Enhanced’s Headquarters & Headquarters Company! They recently held a memorable Change of Responsibility ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the team.

We join them in welcoming U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Daniel Buchanan as the new 44th ESB-E HHC First Sergeant! The role of the 1st Sgt. is vital, not only as a leader and mentor, but as the heartbeat of the company, ensuring the well-being, readiness, and success of every Soldier.

We’re confident that 1st Sgt. Buchanan’s experience and passion will inspire and across our ranks.

We also honor U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Jereil McNealy as he passes the torch. His unwavering leadership, selfless service, and dedication to both Soldiers and families have left a lasting legacy.

Had a great time at Wackernheim’s annual Kerb festival, May 30, 2026. The whole community came together for music, food, games, and the traditional raising of the Kerbbaum in the town square.

U.S. Army Col. Slade Smith, our commander, and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Milton Campbell, our deputy brigade commander, joined local officials, showing the strong partnership between the 2d TSB and Wackernheim. It was a wonderful day celebrating unity and tradition with our German neighbors.
