SOCEUR would like to congratulate the Ukrainian Special Forces on their 10-year anniversary! As a separate branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, UKR SOCOM's mission is to operate beyond the front line, being the first to infiltrate behind enemy lines by air, land, and sea. They routinely execute missions others consider "impossible."

By Ukrainian Presidential Decree, May 27 was officially established as the Day of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine. One of the people there from the start was Dr. Byron Harper from NATO Special Operations Forces Command (SOFCOM). During the anniversary celebration, Dr. Harper will be awarded for his efforts in enabling the establishment of UKR SOCOM. Dr. Harper's leadership over the last decade has been crucial to organizing burden sharing with the NATO SOFCOM Allies and partners.

Despite the recent troop reduction and ongoing discussions about further commitments, O’Donnell said the US is still committed to NATO and still maintains a strong presence on the continent.
