During Exercise Archipelago Endeavor 26 in Berga, Sweden, U.S. Navy Corpsmen with the 4th Medical Battalion and Swedish medical personnel with the 2nd Naval Combat Service Support Battalion teamed up for combined casualty care and patient movement training.

From decontamination and immediate medical treatment to evacuation and continued care at a field medical facility, these forces tested their crisis response and tactical cooperation in demanding Baltic conditions.
Because when the situation is critical, bilateral interoperability and joint readiness save lives.

"The Northern Edge: Jan Mayen" documents trilateral military operations between U.S. Marines with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Europe and Africa, the Norwegian Armed Forces, and the British Armed Forces during Operation Atlantic City 26 on the island of Jan Mayen, Aug. 28 – Sept. 6, 2026.

The production highlights the trilateral forces' ability to project power, defend key maritime terrain in the Greenland-Iceland-U.K. gap, and validate expeditionary advanced base capabilities, combined fires, and sea denial to reinforce NATO's rapid-response posture and collective security across the High North.

DEFENDING THE HIGH NORTH: "The Northern Edge: Jan Mayen"

Releasing tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, "The Northern Edge: Jan Mayen" is a documentary capturing trilateral operations between U.S. Marines, the Norwegian Armed Forces, and the British Armed Forces during Operation Atlantic City 26.

Located on the remote island of Jan Mayen north of the GIUK gap, the operation validated expeditionary advanced base capabilities, combined fires, and sea denial in extreme Arctic conditions. The documentary highlights NATO's rapid-response posture and collective readiness to secure critical maritime terrain in the High North.

On Jan Mayen, U.S. Marines stand shoulder to shoulder with Norwegian and British forces during Operation Atlantic City. The allied force is operating from an austere, strategic location to control key maritime terrain and strengthen NATO’s ability to respond in the High North.

Atlantic City 26 is a Norwegian-led trilateral readiness initiative with the United Kingdom and the United States designed to develop and demonstrate expeditionary advanced base capabilities and validate combined fires, maritime domain awareness, and sea denial to reinforce the security and stability of the High North.

A launcher without a ship and a capability without the need for a fixed position.

The U.S. Navy’s Containerized Launching System, delivered by a U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III, arrived in Norway during Operation Atlantic City 26, demonstrating how quickly expeditionary maritime missile systems can be positioned in the High North.

Its containerized design gives commanders a flexible, mobile launch capability, one that can be rapidly inserted, dispersed, and integrated with NATO forces. Atlantic City 26 is a Norwegian-led trilateral readiness initiative with the United Kingdom and United States designed to develop and demonstrate expeditionary advanced base capabilities and validate combined fires, maritime domain awareness, and sea denial to reinforce the security and stability of the High North.

Into the unknown.

In a contaminated environment, the first challenge is understanding what you’re walking into.

During Exercise Archipelago Endeavor 26, U.S. Marines and Swedish forces trained together in CBRN reconnaissance, sensitive site exploitation and decontamination—clearing unfamiliar spaces, investigating potential hazards, collecting samples and adapting to obstacles along the way.

Because when the situation is uncertain, interoperability and readiness matter.

The Baltic Sea is calling.

U.S. Marines and Sailors are preparing to return to Sweden for Exercise Archipelago Endeavor 26, where they will train alongside Swedish allies to strengthen combined capabilities in CBRN defense, medical crisis response, and amphibious operations.

The annual bilateral exercise brings U.S. and Swedish forces together to sharpen interoperability, strengthen tactical cooperation, and reinforce the shared commitment to security in the Baltic Sea region.

Lethal from the Dark

U.S. Marines and Allied partners extract heavy combat equipment from subterranean cave systems in Norway to test rapid mobilization during Exercise Atlantic City 26.

Deploying these pre-positioned assets under the cover of darkness directly supports the Nordic Plan theme of being Prepared for Rapid Response across the High North.
