Confused by those fluctuating LESes or not sure if your KMC COLA is correct? You can double‑check it yourself in under a minute:

1. Go to the Overseas COLA Lookup. https://www.travel.dod.mil/Allowances/Overseas-Cost-of-Living-Allowance/Overseas-COLA-Rate-Lookup/

2. Enter locality code DE700

3. Add your rank, dependent status, and years of service

4. Hit submit — then multiply the pay-period rate by 2 to estimate your monthly amount (this may vary slightly each pay period due to currency fluctuations), or look up both pay periods separately and add them together to determine the exact monthly amount.

Today’s topic: Riding the bus 🚌 and train 🚋

Thinking about taking the bus from Ramstein Air Base to Landstuhl? Here’s a quick guide to make it easy:

🚌 Catching the Bus
• The first bus leaves right from Ramstein AB.
• You can buy your ticket directly on the bus or use the VRN App.
• Have euros ready—small denominations only, since drivers give limited change.
• You can purchase a bus only ticket, a combined bus + train ticket, or even a day ticket.

🚶‍♂️➡️🚆 Switching to the Train in Ramstein
• Get off at the Ramstein bus stop.
• Walk across the street to the train station.
• If you did not buy a combined ticket on the bus, only then use the train ticket machine to buy your train ticket.

🚆 Train to Landstuhl or Kaiserslautern
• Take the train to Landstuhl or continue on to Kaiserslautern, depending on where you want to go.
• If you’re only using the train (no bus), the DB Navigator App is also an option.
