Palästina Verstehen Lernen - Understanding Palestine

"Understanding Palestine" is a Project that organises educational trips to the Westbank, Palestine for Students and politically interested young people.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine concerns the international community since generations. Through our responsibility as international community, it is time for the first step: To learn to understand the conflict. Through our journey to the West Bank for students, we offer the opportunity to get in contact with people from every walk of life, to be able to have a dialogue with the

Palestinian youth, to have the chance to ask questions and the access to first hand information. We believe that the confrontation with a side that is not often projected in our mainstreem media, is what reduces untrue prejudices and promotes empathy and understanding. Der anhaltende Konflikt zwischen Palästina und Israel beschäftigt die Internationale Gemeinschaft, und gerade Deutschland, seit Generationen. Durch unsere Verantwortung als Deutsche ist es der erste Schritt, den Konflikt verstehen zu lernen. Unsere Reise nach Palästina bietet die Gelegenheit mit Menschen aus allen Lebensbereichen der Gesellschaft in Kontakt zu treten, ins Gespräch zu kommen, Fragen stellen zu dürfen und die tägliche Lebenswirklichkeit der Menschen zu erfahren. Wir glauben daran, dass durch die Aufklärung sowie das Kennen lernen der jeweils „anderen“ Seite, Feindbilder reduziert und ein großer Schritt in Richtung einer friedlichen Zukunft getan werde kann. Diese Botschaft soll über junge Menschen in die Welt getragen werden.

Day 12: Jerusalem! After having seen the holy places, we attended a presentation from the organisation breaking the silence. We ended the day with exploring the Jewish narrative by going to the Holocaust Museum Yad Vashem. A very touching day!
