es ist soweit! Das Programm des AFROLUTION FESTIVAL 2025 ist online und kann auf unserer Website www.eoto-archiv.de in Deutsch und Englisch heruntergeladen werden. Das Festival findet vom 19.-22.06.2025 unter dem Titel »African/-Diasporic Pluriverses II: Transnational [Re]Imaginings of Resistance & Resilience« statt.

Mit seiner 2. Edition des AFROLUTION FESTIVAL feiert EOTO e.V. die zweite internationale Dekade für Menschen afrikanischer Abstammung der Vereinten Nationen (2025-2034). Wie schon in der ersten Edition der vierjährigen Reihe (2024-2027) fungiert auch 2025 ein historisches panafrikanisches Mega-Event als historische Referenz – in diesem Jahr „Zaire 74“ mit dem gleichnamigen Musikfestival und dem legendären Boxkampf von Mohammad Ali und George Foreman in der heutigen Demokratischen Republik Kongo. Im engen Zusammenhang damit stehen, die Themata panafrikanischer pro-Demokratie Jugendbewegungen, reziproker Solidarisierungsstrukturen zwischen zivilgesellschaftlich getragenen Bewegungen auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent und den Schwarzen Diasporas weltweit sowie der Rolle neuer, unabhängiger Institutionen.

In diesem Themenkomplex werden im Rahmen des Festivals Kultur (Literatur, bildende und darstellende Kunst), politischer Aktivismus und kritische Wissenschaft interdisziplinär verknüpft – der kuratorische Ansatz des Triple AAA: Art-Academy-Acitivism. Gerade Berlin als historischer Schauplatz der »Kongo-Konferenz« von 1884/85, in der sich in den letzten Jahren und Jahrzehnten eine wachsende Zahl an zivilgesellschaftlichen, erinnerungskulturellen und auch staatlichen Initiativen dem Thema der deutschen zentralen Beteiligung am Kolonialismus und der Frage einer (de)kolonialen Erinnerungskultur angenommen haben, bietet eine angemessene Kulisse für diese Reihe.

The programme of the AFROLUTION FESTIVAL is now on our website www.eoto-archiv.de for you to download in English and German. The Festival will take place from 19.-22.06.2025 under the title »African/-Diasporic Pluriverses II: Transnational [Re]Imaginings of Resistance & Resilience«.

With its 2nd edition of the Afrolution Festival, EOTO wants to celebrate that, due to global civil society and institutional pressure, a second international decade for people of African descent (2025-2034) was proclaimed by the United Nations on December 17, 2024. As in the first Afrolution Festival Edition of the four-year series (2024-2027), one of the historic pan-African mega-events will also serve as a historical reference in 2025 - this year Zaire 74 in today's Democratic Republic of Congo, and closely related to this, the issue of pan-African pro-democracy youth movements, reciprocal solidarity structures between civil society-based movements on the African continent and the black diasporas worldwide, as well as the role of new, independent institutions.

In this complex of topics, culture (literature, visual and performing arts), politics/political activism and critical science are linked in an interdisciplinary manner within the framework of the festival - the curatorial approach of the Triple AAA - Art-Academy-Acitivism. The German capital Berlin in particular as the setting for the »Congo Conference« of 1884/85, in which in recent years and decades a growing number of civil society, memory culture and also state initiatives have focused on the topic of Germany's central involvement in European colonialism and the question of a (de)colonial culture of remembrance offers an appropriate backdrop for this series.
