A Conversation That Matters

September is Su***de Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, encourage connection and recognize the role we all have in looking out for one another.

We sat down with our senior leaders to hear their thoughts on su***de prevention, why this month matters and the importance of checking in with the people around us.

Su***de prevention starts with connection. Taking the time to ask how someone is doing, listening when they answer and recognizing when someone may need additional support can make a difference.

This month is an opportunity to keep those conversations going and remind ourselves that looking out for one another is something we can do every day.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 in the United States. In Europe, service members, veterans and their families can contact the Veterans/Military Crisis Line at DSN 988 or +1 844-702-5495.

Strengthening Care Through Readiness

Teams across Landstuhl Regional Medical Center recently came together to review and rehearse key processes as part of LRMC’s ongoing preparation for Joint Commission accreditation.

The exercise allowed staff to look closely at how care is delivered across the hospital, how teams communicate and where processes can be strengthened. By identifying gaps and addressing them before they affect a patient, LRMC can continue to improve the safety, quality and reliability of care.

Joint Commission readiness is not only about meeting standards. It is an opportunity to take a critical look at how we care for our patients and make sure the right processes are in place when they matter most.

For LRMC, that work is part of a continued commitment to providing safe, high-quality care to every patient, every day.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

Members of the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center team joined the Kaiserslautern Military Community at Ramstein Air Base today for a 9/11 Remembrance Run/Walk — each step honoring the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call and the generations who chose to serve in the years that followed.

One of LRMC’s own, Col. Christian Labra, served as guest speaker, sharing the personal impact 9/11 had on his life and reflecting on how that day forever changed our world.

For LRMC, that legacy runs deep. In the years following 9/11, our halls became part of the journey home for thousands of wounded, ill and injured Service Members — cared for by generations of military medical professionals committed to hope, healing and service.

Today, we ran. We walked. We remembered.

And 25 years later, we still carry their memory forward.

“Wounds heal, but the scars that are left remind us every day to never forget.”

🏁 That’s a wrap on the 2026 Europe Best Medic Competition!

Competitors closed out the final day with an 18-mile ruck march before taking on a mass casualty (MASCAL) exercise, where all teams came together to assess, treat and care for simulated ill and injured patients.

After days of demanding events testing their medical and Soldier skills, these competitors showed the endurance, expertise and teamwork it takes to be among Europe’s best medics.

👏 Congratulations to all the teams on completing the competition!

🏆 Tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., we find out who takes the title!

🚑 Day 2, Part 2!

The second half of Day 2 of the Europe Best Medic Competition kept the pressure on.

Competitors tackled rough terrain rescue, prolonged casualty care and tactical evacuation, working through scenarios that tested their ability to care for casualties and move them safely when conditions weren’t easy.

From getting patients out of difficult terrain to providing care over an extended period and coordinating evacuation, competitors had to rely on their medical skills, teamwork and each other.

That wraps up Day 2. Two days down, and these medics are still pushing.

Get some rest, competitors. Day 3 is waiting. 🩺💪

🩺 Day 2 is underway!

The first half of Day 2 of the Europe Best Medic Competition put competitors into scenarios where their medical skills and decision-making were put to the test.

From Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) to detainee operations, competitors had to react to a variety of scenarios, assess the situation, treat their patients and make decisions under pressure.

No two scenarios are the same, and that’s the point. Being a medic means being ready to adapt when the situation changes.

And we’re only halfway through Day 2.

Stay tuned. There’s more to come. 🩺💪

🩺 💪 🪖Day 1, Part 2!

The second half of Day 1 of the Europe Best Medic Competition kept our competitors moving.

They took on the Combat Water Survival Test, pushed through High Intensity Interval Training, and finished the day navigating the Litter Obstacle Course.

After a long first day of competition, these medics have already been tested on their strength, endurance, teamwork and ability to keep going when they’re tired.

That wraps up Day 1. These medics have already covered a lot of ground, and there’s still plenty of competition ahead.

Get some rest, competitors. Day 2 is coming. 💪🩺
