Congratulations to our FY24 Best Leader Competition Winners:

CPT Boyd - Landstuhl Specialty Clinic
SGT Tobal - Oral Surgery Clinic
SPC Lopez - Oral Surgery Clinic

These Soldiers competed over the span of four days showing their military knowledge and proficiency in physical fitness, TCCC, land navigation, marksmanship, combat water survival testing, and the Norwegian Ruck to highlight just some of the events.

We wish our competitors well in their future at the Dental Health Command Europe BLC!!!

October started off with the Promotion of Major Ryan H. Allred to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. LTC Allred is currently serving as the Officer In Charge of the Landstuhl Speciality Dental Clinic where he continues to have a tremendous impact on our organization. Since LTC Allred arrived he has served as the OIC of Kleber Dental Clinic and led a dental team supporting Global Health Engagement missions in Ghana. LTC Allred has already been announced as the next Commander for Dental Health Activity Rheinland Pfalz which is a great reflection of his experience and understanding of the units mission and operating environment. Congratulations to LTC Allred and family on such a wonderful set of accomplishments.

This month we celebrated one of our HQ Teammates Mr. Andrew Villalobos-Moore. He has been with our organization since April 2022 serving as the Executive Assistant for the DENTAC-RP Command Team. Over the years he has been very instrumental in not only improving the morale at HQ but also the rest of the unit. He has served on multiple committees including Family Day, Unit and Regional Military Ball, and organized Commander's Call, Retirement, and Promotion Ceremonies to just highlight some of his significant contributions. He was presented with the Commanders Award for Civilian Service as well as a plaque thanking him for his time with Dental Health Activity Rheinland-Pfalz. We will miss you Mr. VM and wish you and Nick the best as you travel back to the States and continue supporting the military.

This past week, Dental Health Activity - Rheinland Pfalz partnered with our colleagues, Maj. Demko and Spc. Villatoro from the 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 30th Medical Brigade, at Baumholder, to familiarize and gain experience on dental field equipment.
Operation and maintenance of the dental field equipment is an Individual Critical Task (ICT) for Army Dental Soldiers. Fulfilling ICTs ensures Soldiers are ready to provide and render services in a field or remote environment.
Thank you for the great training and experience for our Soldiers!

Today, Col. Giesen awarded Lt. Col. Jesse Norris from our Kleber Dental Clinic a Commander’s Coin for Excellence for his support and dedication to our unit!
Arriving in 2020, Lt. Col. Norris served as the OIC for Kleber Dental Clinic for 3 years, followed by serving as the liaison and subject-matter expert (SME) for all things Joint Commission and ensuring our clinics stay within Joint Commission compliance.
Lt. Col. Norris will be PCS’ing to DENTAC-Bavaria, and we wish him well as he embarks on this next chapter, thank you for all that you’ve done for DENTAC-Rheinland Pfalz!

🏃🎉 This morning, a group of DENTAC-RP Soldiers, to include our Command Team, participated in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center's color run that was coordinated by the SHARP Team!
While running through clouds of colorful powder, the team celebrated fitness, fun, and togetherness with our LRMC colleagues and with each other.

Today, we had the pleasure to be a part of both a farewell and promotion ceremony for Cpl. Belinda Aryee from our Landstuhl Specialty Dental Clinic.
First, we celebrated the promotion of Cpl. Aryee to Sergeant! Her hard work, selfless service and leadership led her to achieving this milestone and it is very well deserved! 👏

That was then followed by a farewell in which Sgt. Aryee was sent off surrounded by friends and colleagues from across the region. She will move on to take part in the US Army Green to Gold program in which she will work to go from soldier to Army Officer. We are so proud of you and we wish you the best in your next chapter and to all your future endeavors! 🎉

A big thank you to USO Warrior Center for not only hosting this event but for all the support that you provide to our unit as a whole!

He previously served as the President of the Army AGD constituency, and he states that among a multitude of other meaningful experiences, "Holding a leadership position within the Army AGD certainly helped prepare me to be successful in a command position.”

Happy Friday, Army AGD!

This week’s Feature Friday showcases COL James Giesen.

COL Giesen previously served as Army AGD President from 2021-2023 and President-Elect from 2019-2021.

COL Giesen is currently serving as the Commander of US Army Dental Health Activity Rheinland-Pfalz and
Deputy Commander of Dental Services for Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

COL Giesen initially joined Army AGD to “help me understand how to work with and lead a team of professionals to accomplish the most for our members. We had many ideas, but with limited time and resources, we had to learn to prioritize what efforts would deliver the biggest return, which is a skill I use in my command position now. I learned how to organize and conduct virtual and in-person events with senior leaders which has been beneficial in my current role. The experience of working with Officers from the other Services was invaluable and helped me understand the Joint environment. Holding a leadership position within the Army AGD certainly helped prepare me to be successful in a command position.”

A fun fact about COL Giesen is that while he was a student at the University of Washington, he competed on College Jeopardy and won second place and $2,500 which he used to travel to Europe for the first time!🏆

This past Friday, 12 July, DENTAC-RP hosted our annual Family Day at Donnelly Park on Ramstein Air Force Base! ☀️🎈

Family Day is a morale day for all individuals in the organization, both service members and civilians, and their family members to come together with a goal of building comraderie and having fun.
The day included clinic versus clinic sports competitions, fun inflatables, a tye-dye station, Touch-a-Truck with the Ramstein Fire Department, a visit from Tony Eis Gelato truck and even the K9 for Veterans/USO Service Dogs stopped by!

🚨The winner of our clinic versus clinic sports competitions was… a two-peat, Baumholder Dental Clinic! 🏆🥇

A huge thank you to our community partners that attended the event to connect and network with our members and provide resources:

Last week, 2 July, was a big day for our SHAPE Dental Clinic Command (DCC)!
First, the SHAPE DCC Commander, Maj. Autumn Becker, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel!
Huge congratulations to Lt. Col. Becker on this milestone accomplishment, we are so proud! 👏🏻

The promotion ceremony was then followed by the SHAPE DCC Change of Command in which Lt. Col. Becker relinquished commmand to Maj. Smallidge!
