🎄 838th Transportation Battalion Christmas Party 🎄

Outstanding turnout, outstanding laughs, and questionable competitive integrity across the board.

📱 Christmas Kahoot Champion:
Congratulations to CPT Doju, who clearly studied harder than the rest of us and dominated the Christmas-themed Kahoot like it was a promotion board.

🧶 Ugly Sweater Contest Winner:
The winner—by unanimous decision—was Matthew Hurley (yes, the baby). Turns out it’s impossible to compete against a tiny human in a sweater. The rest of us never had a chance.

🚪 Best Decorated Door Award:
Awarded to MAJ Hurley, MAJ Chapman, and Mr. Toepfer for a bold minimalist approach—featuring a single wreath taped to the door. Proof that sometimes doing the absolute least still wins.

🎂 December Birthday Shout-Outs:
We also celebrated December birthdays for Mr. Dunsmore and MAJ Wu—because nothing says “holiday season” like cake, candles, and pretending you’re not aging.

🛠️ Event MVPs:
Huge credit to SGT Harris, Ms. Davis, and Ms. Krebs for doing all the heavy lifting to make this event happen. If effort were a weapon system, this would’ve been overmatch.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great night. Morale was high, sweaters were ugly, décor standards were flexible, and the 838th delivered—again.

🎄838th Transportation Battalion Holiday Update🎄

While our Battalion Commander was out doing important commander things, the team seized the opportunity to help him embrace the Christmas spirit… aggressively.

We didn’t just decorate his office.
We wrapped everything.
His desk? Wrapped.
His chair? Wrapped.
His pens? Wrapped individually, because attention to detail matters.
His computer mouse now looks like a festive gumdrop.
Even his stapler is experiencing unprecedented levels of holiday cheer.

Mission success: 100% Christmas saturation.
Morale impact: Through the roof.
Operational risk: He’s definitely plotting revenge.

The Gateway to Victory team supported the redeployment of 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division through the Port of Gdynia, Poland, ensuring the brigade’s equipment was safely and efficiently returned to home station.

This operation was driven by the combined efforts of the 838th Transportation Battalion Headquarters and the North Atlantic Detachment (NAD), who provided on-the-ground leadership, coordination, and oversight to keep every stage of the port mission on track. Their teamwork ensured smooth vessel operations and timely cargo movement.

🇵🇱 During the mission, the team also had the honor of hosting the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, as he visited the port to observe operations and engage with personnel supporting the redeployment.

This redeployment reflects the professionalism and reliability of the team, reinforcing our role in supporting the sustained readiness of forces across the theater.

Yesterday, leaders from the 598th Transportation Brigade - SDDC, 838th Transportation Battalion (HQ), the North Sea Detachment (NSD), U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command, LRC Reps, and our mission partners from the Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss came together to celebrate Thanksgiving at the Port of Gdańsk, Poland.

This Thanksgiving was a special one. Even though we were away from our families back home, we were still able to pause, reflect, and be grateful for the camaraderie, resilience, and sense of purpose that come with serving alongside an incredible team. Being together—breaking bread in a port thousands of miles from home—was a reminder that the Army family is just as real as the one we look forward to returning to.

And in true Gateway to Victory fashion, we didn’t just gather—we executed. The team closed out the mission ahead of schedule, ensuring that personnel were able to depart earlier than expected and continue enjoying the holiday season.

Proud of this team. Proud of this mission.

𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐞, 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐊𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐩ė𝐝𝐚, 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚!

The Gateway to Victory team successfully executed the redeployment of 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division through the Port of Klaipėda, Lithuania, marking a major win for synchronization and throughput across the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) theater.

This mission was led by the 838th Transportation Battalion Headquarters, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our outstanding partners from the British Army 104 Logistic Support Brigade and members from the 598th Transportation Brigade - SDDC. Their combined leadership ensured disciplined, efficient, and safe port operations from start to finish.

Support from the 21st Theater Sustainment Command and the 39th Transportation Battalion was essential in coordinating movement control, vessel sequencing, and overall mission flow.

💡𝐌𝐀𝐉𝐎𝐑 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓: The team successfully loaded 𝐓𝐖𝐎 vessels simultaneously—the first time the Battalion has executed dual-vessel operations in years!! This milestone reflects the professionalism, adaptability, and sheer capability of the formation.

Another mission complete. Another example of joint, allied, and interagency teamwork delivering results.

On 19 November 2025, the 838th Transportation Battalion proudly celebrated the promotion of SFC Joseph Uilelea to Master Sergeant (MSG)!

MSG Uilelea currently serves in the 838th BN S3, where he is known for his steadfast leadership, reliability, and commitment to excellence. His professionalism and dedication make him one of the most trusted NCOs in 598th Transportation Brigade and a critical element to the 838th team.

This milestone was made even more meaningful by the presence of his family, who traveled from Clarksville, Tennessee, to attend the ceremony. A special highlight of the day was having his father, Gafatasi Uilelea, a retired U.S. Army veteran, and his mother, Lalelei Uilelea, proudly standing by his side.

Congratulations, MSG Uilelea!
Your leadership and dedication strengthen the entire battalion. Well-earned and well-deserved. ⚓🇺🇸

The Gateway to Victory team proudly supported the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division (3 CAB, 3 ID) as they deployed from their home station through the Port of Gdańsk, Poland, strengthening U.S. Army aviation capability across the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) theater.

This mission was led by our North Sea Detachment (NSD), whose professionalism and expertise ensured smooth port operations from start to finish. Their leadership was pivotal in coordinating the movement of aircraft and equipment across the port.

This complex operation was a true team effort across the sustainment enterprise. A special thank-you to our partners at the 21st Theater Sustainment Command and the 39th Transportation Battalion, whose support and synchronization were essential to the mission’s success.

From planning to ex*****on, the team once again demonstrated the critical role strategic ports play in sustaining readiness across Europe.

This morning, the Soldiers of the 838th Transportation Battalion gathered at the Pulaski AFT Track for a challenging circuit-style PT session followed by a Leader Professional Development (LPD).

The PT was led by SGT Andrew Campuzano, who brought high energy and motivation to the workout, ensuring the team pushed themselves and supported one another throughout. Following PT, the LPD was led by CPT Dojutelegan, who focused on the importance of trust and communication—key elements that strengthen our teams both on and off the field.

Events like these not only build fitness and resilience, but also reinforce the bonds of teamwork and the leadership principles that define our unit.

We are proud of the commitment, discipline, and professionalism our Soldiers display each day—always ready, always strong. 🇺🇸

The Gateway to Victory team doesn’t just help units deploy and redeploy into the theater—we also execute critical ammunition missions to keep the fight sustained.

Recently, our team supported the EUCOM theater with a successful ammo operation in Poland, ensuring our partners and units have the munitions they need, when and where they need them.

These missions are a joint effort, working alongside the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, the 39th Transportation Battalion, the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command, the Army’s Surface Distribution and Deployment Command (SDDC), and our host nation partners to make it all happen.

From moving people and equipment to managing complex ammunition movements, the 838th Transportation Battalion continues to play a key role in sustaining readiness across the European theater.

🚢 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝!

Our Gateway to Victory team at the North Atlantic Detachment (NAD) successfully executed another critical mission—this time at the Marchwood Military Port in support of the 352d Special Operations Wing’s CV-22 deployment and redeployment.

This marked the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭-𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 for a CV-22 mission, and it was a resounding success. This new capability reduces surface transit time, preserves energy, and significantly improves maintenance lead times.

To recognize outstanding performance during this mission, LTC Chandler and SGM Varas presented coins to two of the unit’s service members for their dedication and exceptional ex*****on on the ground.

Once again, the NAD team showcased their unmatched expertise in terminal operations and their ability to deliver under pressure. Well done, team!

A day of celebration, warm welcomes, and heartfelt farewells here at the 838th Transportation Battalion!

First, we’re excited to celebrate the newest addition to the Hurley family! Congratulations to MAJ Ben Hurley and his wife, Angela, on the birth of their strong, healthy son! Your 838th family couldn’t be happier for you and wishes your growing family endless love, health, and happiness in this new chapter.

We also welcomed Ms. Stefanie Wegener to the team! Stefanie joins the Battalion S1 Shop from the Kaiserslautern CPAC Office and brings a wealth of HR knowledge and experience. We’re thrilled to have her onboard and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make on the formation.

Lastly, we farewelled Ms. Anna Strate, who has been a vital member of the Battalion since 2022. Over the last 7 months, she single handedly led the S1 Shop with professionalism, heart, and an unwavering commitment to the team. She spearheaded the implementation of a new hiring platform to better advertise open positions, successfully onboarded new personnel, and processed more personnel actions and awards than we can count. To acknowledge everything she’s done for the battalion, we presented her with the Civilian Army Commendation Medal and a personalized plaque. “Thank you” doesn’t begin to capture our appreciation for everything you’ve done. Anna, we wish you all the best in your new role at LRMC—you’ll always be part of the 838th family. 💼🌟
