HISTORY AND POSTING GUIDELINES

HISTORY:

The 1st Ba

ttalion, 4th Infantry Regiment has served in the defense of the United States for over two hundred years. The Battalion traces its lineage to the original Fourth United States Infantry, which was organized as the Infantry of the Fourth Sub Legion on Sept. 4th 1792, only four years after the adoption of the Federal Constitution. On November 16, 1990, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry was assigned as the Opposing Force (OPFOR) at the Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC), Hohenfels, Germany. The battalion consists of three rifle companies, a tank company, and a headquarters and head quarters company. In order to support the USAERUR commander’s training strategy the battalion portrays a Brigade Tactical Group and/or an insurgency that challenges all the battlefield operating systems (BOS) of rotational units in force on force situations. STANDBY…FIRE 💥 1-4 IN is kicking off a rigorous gated training window starting with a bang!

The Battalion Mortar PLT just completed their MORTEP tables. This is an evaluation process to evaluate our crews’ ability to safely and accurately employ weapon systems, adjust fires based on observer feedback, and engage simulated targets. Well done, Jaeger!

Highlighting three Warriors who’ve made an outsized impact on our people. Cherokee said farewell to 1SG Sam McGraw, a phenomenal NCO with a heart of service. We’re gonna miss you in 1-4 but thankful you’re just down the road. Congrats as well to our newly promoted CPTs, Colton Osguthorpe and James Sherlock, two company XOs who have invested their time, sweat and energy into taking care of our soldiers. Well done, Warriors!
